marking polishing foam pads .. ? ..
I know about marking the backing plate to see if it's still spinning at a optimal rate, but I am curious how many people mark their foam pads? I mark my Lake Country ones on the side with a sharpie, number of line to tell me if I have put light cut, medium, or compounding polish on them. I figure that also accomplishes the goal of seeing if the pad is still spinning.
Considering I am on the verge of taking out my New Rupes with new Rupes pads for the 1st time, I figured this is a great time to ask the veterans on this forum their opinion on this? If it's too OCD lol, is it fine to have ink on the side your pad, etc?
Thanks everyone

Re: marking polishing foam pads .. ? ..
I use the full Rupes system, so I generally just use the compound or polish that is matched to each colored pad, i.e. the coarse compound with the blue pad, the medium compound with the green pad, and so on. Not always, but most of the time. But no, I haven't mark the pads, just the backing plate.
