New Lake Country 3" Flat Pads Why rounded edges

If the idea of a 3" pad is to allow you to get into tight areas....why put rounded edges on the pad; which makes it impossible to polish right up the edge?

The 4" LC CCS pads have the same edge as the 5 1/2" CCS and are great for "edging" up close to trim, emblems and the like.

    The AGO product page states:

"The beveled edge lessens the risk of cookie-cutting because there are no stiff edges to dig into the paint if you accidentally tilt the polisher."

I have never had an issue with 4" LC CCS or the 3" DAMF Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting Pads

In my opinion these polishing pads are even more "fool-proof" meaning that it's more targeted towards beginners, and so users can have a better experience while not worrying so much about destroying the paintwork, and if i am correct you are more experienced in machine polishing so you don't really see the use for the beveled edges but they are produced that way so theirs a less sharper edge cutting into the paintwork

I have noticed the same thing, allen, however i use both my flat 3.75" pads with the rounded edge and the 4" CCS pads for exactly what you pointed out.

The beveled edge small pads i find very useful on front and rear sections when negotiating around curved contours of lower front grills and rear license plate indentations. I find they make an easier transition over raised edges.

The sharper edged CCS pads are very handy for me to "cut in" around tighter areas allowing the tighter reach up to and around emblems and items i don't remove from the vehicle that are taped up.

I guess what i'm saying is i like both pad types for their respective applications.

Just wish there was a 3" foam pad without the rounded edge

Getting great results with the 3" Meguiar's DAMF pads with D300.

I just need something with less cut for finishing soft paint systems.

These sort of look on the thick side also? Can anyone comment on how thick these are?
    Thanks, Mark

U could always go with the lake country Hydro tech 3" pads, those don't have rounded edges
