I've used a yellow flat pad to remove a scratch. It definitely has a lot of cut, in comparison to the orange pad.

I used them on "hard scratch resistant" Nissan clear coat (per the sticker under hood) to remove swirls with Wolfgang TSR that an orange pad with the same polish wouldn't remove. I used the CCS 5.5" non-constant contact pads. They did give more cut than the orange. I think a lot of people use orange is because they are hesitant to use the strongest cut of anything in polishing and often they are not needed. I can also tell you I was able to burn through clear coat with this combo and a PC 7424 on 6 trying to get out a scratch using way too much pressure(live and learn).

OK! Good thing to know! i never guessed you could actually burn through pain with a DA
When i tried mine, with menzerna power gloss (Compound) i could hear that it sound stronger than anything i heard before.. and i actually used it very carefully.

I use the yellow CCS pads with Meguiar's #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner to remove spots on windows.

Yellow>I use them on gelcoat (those that need it) and follow up with a lesser pad.
