3.5" Backing Plates and 4" Spot Repair Pads on DA Polishers

Do the smaller plates and pads throw the PC7424xp out of balance and make it vibrate more? Also, are there regular low profile/flat pads available in 4"?

If no one makes one I'm just gonna buy up some extra factory replacement backing plates for the Flex and just custom trim it or something so that I am retaining the mechanical end of it. I'm sure you can figure something out and test it on some junkyard panels. I am shocked at the low support for this awesome machine. If I had the resources there are lots of different design ideas that could be easily manufactured.

I've been using megs 3" BP with megs 4" pads.

IMO this is perfect combo, and its really good for machines such as G110/G220, GG and the like.

I found that 6" BP with 7" pad is an overkill for the DA. The lack of power is then more then obvious.

Will this pad work with rotary polisher? I am asking because they will be very handy on bikes.

Are the four inch pads small enough to take care of most tight areas on a 2011 Mustang? I'm thinking "yes", but would like to see if anybody else has used them before buying.

Yes, I use 4" pads on rotary buffers all the time.

Yes, most of the tight areas can be handled using a 4" pad. If not then there's always these,


Surgical Buffing


Working on thin panels or intricate areas is what I call surgical buffing. In order to do surgical buffing you need the right tools.

We have these new 3" pads and together with a 3" backing plate and an adapter for using double side pads but I use them as an extension.

I purchased the 4" LC pads with a 3.5" backing plate for small areas on my 90 mustang GT.Areas like around the antenna,5.0 emblem and anywhere tight.The pads are should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.I'll post some pics of the new pads and area to be buffed along with the results.:xyxthumbs:

Here are a few pictures of the pads I got from auto geek.The pads are 4" lake country ccs pads with a 3.5" backing plate.I used Meg's 105 with a yellow 4"ccs pad.I used a PC 7424xp to do the work.I made 6 section passes,the wiped it off to see what the results were.The scratch was still there,but barely.I made another 6 section pass and it removed the entire scratch.Next I followed it with Meg's 205 and a white 4" ccs pad.The results were awesome!:awesome:http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/s...85cc457d97.jpghttp://i573.photobucket.com/albums/s...b42941a8f6.jpghttp://i573.photobucket.com/albums/s...0b749315f9.jpg
