    Re: Chip Repair - Repair?

Hey folks, just a quick update:
the idea of removing the excess touch up paint with thinner was great, the thought of storing a quart or more in my non air conditioned garage (or in the house with two young kids) was a bit scary. Being the King of Caution, I purchased Testors paint thinner (yup, the little bottle from our model building days) and a #1 artists paint brush. It took a LONG time; but I removed all of the touch up paint without hitting the surrounding areas. I then did a very light wetsand with 2500 grit and followed with Meg's 105 and 205 to be sure I got everything - and to make sure I've made the surrounding areas tidy before I use my new package from Dr. ColorChip.
It didn't make sense to touch up rock chips right before a 4 hour round trip to Cars and Coffee, so if you see a PT Cruiser hiding behind the bushes - it's me.
Thanks again for all the great input; and I'll post pictures when I finally wrap this up.

Oh shoot, I just use a paper towel and wipe it, without worrying about the surrounding areas, as long as it's factory clear. Sorry if I wasn't more descriptive before, glad you got it cleaned up though.

No problem Setec, everyone has been great with suggestions, I just don't have a ton of experience so I always err on the side of caution. One of my issues is that I want to be very careful with the clear as I am already battling isolated sun damage. At this point, the only thing I want touching the horizontals is wax! : )
