wool pad uses

What are wool pads made for? I bought one a year or 2 ago because I had some pontoon tubes to clean up and I thought that wool pads were for polishing metal. Now I learn that there are more for paint?

So, since my wool pad now has the black stain from working metal, is it no longer wise to use on paint?

What specific duties merit a wool pad?

thanks

Re: wool pad uses

I would toss it. You may be able to clean it if you but it in the washing machine but if there are any particulates in the wool it's going to scratch your paint.

Wool pads are for heavy compounding.
