HELP! Microfiber towels and washing powder

So today my girlfriend decided to wash my entire collection of microfibre towels, drying towels, polishing towels, general purpose towels, and my polishing pads in the washing machine with powder detergent. However what was intended as a nice gesture, it's probably ruined all my towels as far as in aware. Is there anyway to fix them without buying new as I have a lot of towels to replace??

What happened to them? If the only 'bad' thing was the use of powdered detergent, your towels and pads will be just fine! If you think there is any residue or anything left, just wash them as you would with your detergent/microfiber was of your choice!

I honestly dont think they're ruined at all. might have cross contaminated them though. Id try to separate your nice towels from the rest and wash them again with a dedicated microfiber detergent and tumble dry on low.

Ah thanks for the info. I'll just rewash them then! I've always been told to stay away from powder as it ruins them with residue

The fear with powdered detergent is that some of it wouldn't dissolve and you'd be rubbing powder against your car. But breaking that down a little...could you possibly put so much powdered detergent into your washing machine so that it wouldn't dissolve? I think that's kind of a ridiculous scenario and as Sizzle Chest noted, easily remedied by some additional rinsing.

As noted the main concern with powder is that partials could get trapped in the fibers of MF Towels and not dissolve. I wouldn't stress if they seem good. Just rewash and extra rinse them using no soap with hot water and then re-dry. That will insure all soap is dissolved and residue removed.

I would do a pre-soak. Separate if possible. Use a APC or a pad cleaner. Soak a day or so, then a wash an rinse in wash. Should be good.
