How to create dedicated albums in your photo gallery...

How to create dedicated albums in your photo gallery...

Here's a screen shot of the top of My Albums that I get to when I click on the GALLERY tab across the top of any forum webpage. (I don't ever access through User CP so I don't know if it's the same or not).

Basically, click on GALLERY and when you get there locate the My Albums text link and from there you have the option to create a new, dedicated album or folder.

After you create a new album,

Locate that album in your list of albums
Click on the Upload Photos link to the right side of the screen
Then upload your photos
I give each photo a name, description and keywords - you don't have to but I do...
(It's all the same thing so I copy and paste into the three different lines)

Albums can help you to keep your photos organized which makes it easier to find them in the future or add more of a similar topic.

Re: How to create dedicated albums in your photo gallery...

Two of the most common problems people have when trying to upload a photo are,
Too large of a file size.
It's good netiquette to resize your photos before uploading

Incorrect file name.
By this I mean, a picture file name cannot have an empty space. Your computer might be able to recognize a photo using a file name with an empty space but a photo gallery will not. Here's what I mean,
This will work,

heresmypicture.jpg

This won't work,

heres my picture.jpg

See the empty spaces?

You can use an underscore like this,

heres_my_picture.jpg

or a dot like this,

heres.my.picture.jpg

But you cannot have empty spaces.

Mike, I recently organized some photo's in my gallery into folders but then my post got messed up and I've got the dreaded red X's where my pics used to be.

Bottom line, this feature should not be used if you've previously linked the pictures to posts...

Good tip...

I try to create a new folder for every project I take pictures of BEFORE uploading the pictures. But I could see how you could get red x's if you move the pictures to a folder because you'll change the URL address of the picture where it resides in the folder but not in the thread where you posted.

So as long as you create the folder first and then upload your pictures into the folder and leave them there you'll be good to go.

Mike, how do you delete photos? Is there a way to do it?

Thanks.
