1989 Ford Ranger - PO106 / DG101-105 / Opti-seal - EHUTH1

Well I had the day free and clear after 2 cancellations due to rain. I decided to head over to my folks place and check on my AG order that came in on Wednesday. I had some Menz Nano/106 coming in and this was my first time using it, but I didn't have anything to use it on. Well guess what.... My dad bought this 89 Ranger for $300 about 1 year ago due to engine problems the owner just said "the heck with it.." The truck has been through a MAACO sometime during it's life and my dad just uses it to get around town and for a gas saver.

To make a long story short I drove the truck up to the shop and said time to goto work I popped open the Menz 106 and took a short stab at the hood.

Here is what I'm working with. This is the only before pic and the whole truck had this cloudiness effect. Two words mad oxidation...

After I worked a small 2x2 area to check the dusting everyone raves about I found myself looking for something a bit watered down but still in the polishing family. Here is the pic of the small worked area.

After testing this and testing that... I finally went back to my roots I mixed up a 25% DG101 Polish and 75% Menz 106 and started working the whole truck. Here is the hood below after this combo and a orange low pro pad on spd 4 using the UDM. (I tried 5 and 6 but the vibes were way to much for me.)

Now after I finished up the truck I pulled it out in the sun and check for flaws or possible spots I may have missed. Now I wasn't trying to perfect this MAACO job, but I did want to pump the hype so more for the Menz 106.

Random Shots strictly after polishing >>

Now that I was done I couldn't believe the outcome... I was in disbelief at the amount of shine and depth one polish could do. It took this humble little blue slug to a decent looking pic-em-up truck Next I had to figure out what kind of protection I wanted. So I decided to throw one more thing at the paint to see if it could take it. DG105 TPP.... I for one know it gives a great look and awesome protection, but I topped it with opti-seal to take the cake I applied both DG105 and Opti-Seal via UDM. The glass was cleaned and sealed with DG Rain Repel Glass cleaner and the tires were covered in Hollander's UV2 Dual Stage Silicone Dressing.

Would you look at that truck....

ehuth1: talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear!! That truck was probably a candidate for SIP with an orange pad. That combo finishes brilliantly too. I just finished detailing my 1st car using DG products and am I ever excited about how it came out..my post will follow. This shot is the nicest I thought:

Well done there, that truck looks much better. Incredable the difference Menzerna made, man Menzerna is one wicked product....keeps shoking me every time I use it or see others use it.

Thank you for sharing.

Awesome job. I was shocked when I saw the first pictures, thinking I would see a rust bucket. For 300 bucks, your dad got a buy. Hell the tires are worth that much. How much did he have to spend on the engine repair?

Thanks everyone for the comps and Rsurfer the engine repairs cost a few hundred, but were limited to a serpentine belt, head gasket, radiator, and new clutch. Runs like a champ now. I keep telling him to get some matching tires and the truck will be finished off nicely.
