Should have seen what my friend went through with his 02' M3 and 04'......I'd be afraid to buy a BMW after that. Even if the warrenty covered it, it was at the shop constantly, SMG trans is a pos, engine blew up on the 02' which happened to quite a few early cars, and never seemed to run right after with the replacement engine. Go figure though, he's driving an 335 sedan now lol.

Oh, I didn't know. Actually, I like the regular Recaro seats better. I think the RS4 seats is a bit over the top in that car.
Bet your neighbour can get a flat bottom RS4 steering wheel cheap at ebay.de. The airbag will be bolt-on I think.

CPO cars are not warranty'd like a the normal factory warranty. Most of the claims get denied. I hate BMW rules and regs.

Only the major things are covered. Even then you have to cross your fingers.... And also you dont get the free maintenance and service. But then again BMW have stretched out their maint schedule so much to save $$, you would need to pay for the intervals anyways.

M3s have a rod bearing recall, then after that engines were still blowing up and they realized they were allowing the engine to rev too high, so a ECU reflash dropped the redline 500RPMS.

I bought the car brand new, and after the exp warranty, Ive probably put about $6-7 K in non maint issues.

Oh, and 10w-60 oil is $10 a quart (changed every 3-5K miles depending on how the oil looks)

Really? That's not good news. Is there some documentation that goes into more detail on what is and is not covered? Will make me think twice about buying one, ARGH!

You still have to be careful with CPO, when I almost bought an E39 M5, an 02' I looked at was CPO'd and was at a good price but I didn't care for the red exterior and wood trim inside (wood trim on those cars is puke ugly). Really wanted Lemans Blue anyway, well a guy on the M5 board bought that 02' I looked at only to find out it had carbon build up in the engine which was an issue on M5's and had something always glitching up with the electronics, god I'm glad I didn't buy it lol. It had an aftermarket head unit and if I recall they wouldn't do any electrical warranty work b/c of that (they'll find every excuse to blame the unit), even though people with stock units would have glitches sometimes with Nav and dash lights. He ended up fixing it, found a wire that was grouped with short in it.
