| | | 1995 Volvo 960 Full detail Well here is the Volvo. Poor thing is in rough shape the owner (my wife) demanded perfection and I was more then happy to deliver. 1995 Volvo 960 Interior Process: Vinyl and rubber: Started off by giving the vehicle a nice wipe down with Megiuar’s APC mixed with water 10:1. Then dressed with 303 (I like this 303, glad I picked up some extra bottles of it). Carpet: First I gave it a quick pass with the Shop Vac then used Meguiars APC with the help of my Little Green Machine. Leather: Wolfgang leather care cleaner, sprayed on the leather and then wiped off with a microfiber towel. Then hand applied/massaged in the Wolfgang leather conditioner, left the conditioner for a few hours and then wiped whatever was left over (not much because majority was absorbed into the leather) with a micro fiber. Exterior Process Engine bay: First I protected the alternator and sparkplugs with a plastic bag (garbage bag) then proceeded to spray P21S Total Auto Wash full strength let it sit for about 5 minutes then sprayed some more P21S Total auto Wash and used various brushes to scrub. Then rinsed the engine area dried it by air with the help of my Shop Vac (has the ability to blow air), applied Stoner Trim Shine let it sit for a few hours then came back used the Shop Vac again to dry the entire engine bay. Rims/wheel wells/Tires: For the rims I used P21S gel formula agitated with my Swissol wheel brush. After rims where cleaned I finished them off with Zymol HD cleanse and toped off with 1 – Coat of Zymol Concourse For the wheel wells I used P21S Total Auto Wash full strength Tires and wheel wells were finished off with Stoner Trim Shine Wash: Prior to wash I sprayed P21S Total Auto Wash all over the vehicle then I used Zymol Clear Auto Bathe with two bucket method and the white ShMITT. Clay: I clayed the hood and the roof with the Ricardo clay bar but the clay came out clean, so I didn’t clay the rest of the vehicle (keep in mind that this vehicle sits in the garage for majority of the time, only comes out on weekends) Polish Wet sand – 2000 grit sand paper (some spots) Menzerna 106FA – Makita (on the hood/roof/trunk) – Menzerna Orange Pad – 1500rpm Menzerna 106FA – Metabo (on the door’s, rear bumper and everything that was left) – Menzerna Orange Pad – 1500rpm After wet sanding I gave the vehicle a nice alcohol wipe down, same goes for after polishing. Just to make sure. Prepping for wax: Zymol HD cleanse applied by hand with applicator and removed by hand and MF towel. Wax: 1 – Coat of Zymol Concourse applied by hand and removed by hand with the help of micro fiber towels. Exterior plastic peaces/trim: I used 303 Aero Space protection Glass: Stoners with glass Cobra MF then used Zymol HD cleanse and topped off with a coat of Zymol Concourse Wax 1/5 |

| | Observations/comments: Now I wet sanded a few spots and used 106FA too remove all off the wet sanding spots as well as all the minor micro marring. Now 106FA is a good product, it dusts a little not as much as 106FF but it still dust, didn’t bother me though. On some of the wet sanding spots I had to go over twice to complete remove the wet sanding marks. Please note that I went from 2000 grit sand paper to 106FA. Works great. Another thing to note is that I had to return my paint gauge so I wet sanded with out taking readings (made ma a little nervous considering the vehicle is older so extra caution was taken, three passes max, wiped the area for inspection and kept the sand paper well lubricated). I really tried to use the Makita on the entire vehicle and it did fine on the large surface areas but when it came to do the door’s I just couldn’t get a comfortable grip on the Makita, had the Metabo next to me and temptation set in, I switched machines and off I went. One thing I do like about the Makita is the trigger, its fun. I had fun with the trigger but to me it just can’t seem to beat the Metabo (that’s just me though). So I’ll be giving the Makita away as a gift as original plan. I just wanted to make sure the Makita worked properly before I give it to my friend.
