My good friend just bought an 08 Hyundai Sonata to use as his business traveler. I was amazed at how unprofessional it looked when he brought it home from the dealership. This car had been in the showroom and evidently the dealer felt that it needed very little detailing because I have had older cars leave my driveway looking 10 times better. Anyway I told him he needed to let me detail it for him. He was going to be on the road for a couple of weeks but wanted me to detail it for him when he got back. In the meantime I detailed his dad's black 1987 300zx (post coming soon) and used the DP Paint Sealant on it and after he saw it he said I'm bringing my car over tomorrow and I want the same thing done. So here is what I did:
Tires: Cleaned tires and wheels with DP Gel Wheel cleaner. Cleaned the wheel wells with Megs APC. Dressed tires with DP Tire gloss gel. Dressed the wheel wells with Stoners More Shine. Glazed the wheels with DP Wheel Glaze and removed with Mother's Mini Powerball.
Wash: Cleaned off bugs with Poorboy's Bug Squash and my new Pinnacle Safe Scrub Bug and Tar Pad. I must admit I was a little skeptical of this as it felt so rough. But I wet it and went to work and man did it make quick and easy work of the bugs teamed with the Bug Squash. Like I said he travels a lot so naturally he takes out a good bit of the bug population here in NC. This was the easist bug removal I have had yet with my new tandem that I will not be without in the future. Washed with DP Xtreme Foam auto shampoo and foam gun and white/yellow schmitt. Dried with Cobra guzzler and leaf blower.
Interior: Cleaned with DP Total Interior Cleaner and protected with DP Interior Surface Protectant. Cleaned all door jambs with DP Waterless Car Wash. Cleaned the leather seats with DP Total Interior Cleaner and conditioned with Wolfgangs Leather Conditioner. I really liked the leather seats in the Sonata and they seemed to really LOVE the Wolfgang's because it was like they just drank it up.
Engine: Sprayed with Megs APC undiluted, worked in with a soft brush, hosed off and after it dried I sprayed with Stoners More Shine.
Headlights: Cleaned and polished with Plex-All and WW MF.
Glass: Cleaned with Stoners Invisible Glass and WW MF.
Paint: He had some scuffs and minor scratches that must have come from customers touching and leaning on it in the showroom so I decided to go ahead and use one of my new favorite products - XMT 360! After the 360 I used the DP Surface Shield Paint sealant. This stuff goes on so easy and comes off even easier. I let it set for about 2 hours before taking it off. I don't know if that is beneficial but I primarily wanted to see if it was still easy to take off if I left it on for an hour longer than normal and it was. So does anyone know if it is beneficial to leave it on longer?
