2 Silver BMWs Done

I finally finished that 545i Sport (except for the wheels which are going to be shipped out to a refinisher). Came out nice and ended up using Meguiar's #21 Sealant (I'm trying to finish up that inventory of product).

Reflection is first class, but this is a fairly new car (05 I think)





Interior was scrubbed with a boar's hair brush and liquid dishwash soap diluted. That gives the leather a clean, flat look that the dealer wants.



Last shot in the shop next to the 745Li Sport I did earlier this year. Boy, I wish I had the $$$ to buy that car. It's a stunning ride.





Next up was a "quickie" to get a 530i (2001 with 50/k miles) that a buyer was looking at on Saturday. Started Friday night with interior (so it could dry) and finished the exterior on Saturday morning. He came in at noon, looked at the car, and wrote a check!

Exterior was done using Menzerna 106ff and XMT 360

The -01 530 is a really nice car, well built. You make really great details, man. Wanna give my coming car a shot?

One thing I get insecure of is to use dishwash soap on car leather, then I think I would have to neutralize it with diluted vinegar essence-1 part 24% vinegar essence diluted with 9 parts of water. Have you tried Strong Leather Soap from Lederzentrum in Germany? Best leather cleaner I have come across in a long time with the right PH.

Sure Daniel: you get the lovely Swedish ladies to attend and I'll be there! I've got enough frequent flyer points to make the trip LOL

Actually, dishwash soap is a lot milder than the leather cleaner we have at the shop. We only use it if the leather is really dirty or a prior detailer used too much greasy interior dressing. The soap is diluted approx. 2 parts soap to 10 parts water in a spray bottle. I work it with the boar's hair brush, wipe the excess with a terry towel, and use compressed air to dry the seams.

P1et: yeppers, the 300Xi is at the body shop waiting on an insurance estimate. I've got a rental until it's fixed. I finally got a police accident report and they indicate she ran a red light but charges are pending on the results of a drug test that was administered right after the wreck. I guess I'll just have to wait and see on that one, but the car should be repaired soon in either case.

Ladies are abundant, unless you bring some of the AG staff around.

The reason I asked for the use of dishwash soap is that the leather guys speak about the PH in cleaning products and suggest the use of diluted vinegar essence. It was not meant to piss you off, man, no way. Seems we work similar when cleaning.

Daniel: No problem on the discussion...that's what these forums should be about. I've never even considered the PH factor for cleaning. Maybe I should look into that side of cleaning products more.

I do know that the leather cleaning solution we have is pretty strong. You cannot let it stay on the material long because it has enough strength to lift the dye. I've used it on only 2 occasions and it worked well at removing sutbborn stains. I follow the use of that cleaner with plain water to make sure I got the cleaner completely off the leather.

Man, that must be a strong chemical. I was fortunate to go to a leather class held by a company in Gothenburg so that's where I get our stuff. They have a mild leather soap as well but the cars we detail usually look like @@@@ and we have to use the stronger soap. Otherwise our principle is "mild first", using all these chemicals means we have to be smart.
