Ford P100, rotary play

This is actualy a Sierra, but Ford made em as a pick up, dont know if this one was made for the US market, anyway, you havnt missed anything, used it some time ago, and lets just say, its NOT a car to use during winter.

Now it has been left alone, sits outside 24/7 and therefore its a great "test" subject for my rotary training (poor, poor car)

So with a rotary and 3 feet "too" short powercord i went too work after washing the hood and fenders first, then clayed one half of the hood.

So this was the team:

Rotary
cutting pad megs
polishing pad megs
finishing pad megs
MG83
MG82
MG21

As said i had 3 feet too short cord, so i had to just take the lower front of the hood and almost all off the front fender.

Im going back on it some other day to take the rest of the half with rotary (wool/MG85), and the other half with the DA, too see what i can correct with that and some XMT 3, 1 and 360.

Still trace of my last test (AutoGlym/left vs Meguiars/right one year ago) they was kinda similar, but when you look at the stripe in the middle you see that it has not faded that bad in one year on either sides.

This is how it was before the AutoGlym vs Meguiars:

After the test (one year ago)

How it was before i went testing with the rotary (how it was after one year outside):

Started claying:

The kids love too clay, i have to hide the clay at home or they will take it.

Afters:

Alot better, but not good enough, what is those small spots in the paint?

Looks good, I wanted to get a rotary but i'll wait for the UDM reviews.

Dont know what those spots are, but looks like over spray from the pic.

I'm thinking overspray too. Truls, I want to see all of the truck when you're finish.

Good for you Truls, stepping up to the rotary. The rotary is not that much different then the PC, just needs a little more caution that's all. I've noticed that those little dots that your refering to seem to be like pores on the paint...not sure if it's over spray because I had some of these on my Volvo....not sure what they are but they look like pores on the paint just my guess though.

With the rotary, you will notice a big difference in corecting...did you say you are using XMT? XMT breaks down quite quickly with the rotary.

Looking forward to the progress and having the kids help is good, I do that with my little girl too.

Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

Sparkie: its hard to get a full pic of the pick up, its kinda squeezed in. may ask the owner to move it so i can better reach it.

Nica: Only use Megs MG series with the rotary, using the XMT serie with DA-only.. Got some Menzerna ont its way

Overspray can be removed, if its poors in the paint it will not be removed easy i guess..

Trying wool next time, if it dont go away then its permanent. Im not wet-sanding that car.

I tryed cutting some carton with my finger at work today, sadly the carton won, so its no detailing some days/weeks ahead, blood everywhere, kinda cool......

Got Rotary from "best tools" kinda crap, but its 900w so its not that weak, and with desent pads from either megs or edge it works well for my use.

Looking into buying the Metabo 12-175, that is a sweet machine.

Try wool pad and MG 85 on the Audi, post pics after!!!
