Driven Auto Detail: 2000 Ranger Fishing Boat

Hey everybody!

I detailed this boat a little over a week ago. It belongs to the owner (my bro-in-law) of the F250 I detailed a few weeks back (mshu7 Detail: 2006 F-250 Turbo Diesel Work Truck (Pic Intensive) ). After I detailed his truck, he then asked me to detail his boat, so I of course said yes! He is a tournament fisher so his boat gets worked hard, like his truck. He wasn't concerned with the scuff marks and scratches on the boat rather he just wanted it cleaned up and protected.

This is the first boat I've ever detailed. I have a new respect for detailing cars and also those people who like and are successful at detailing any kind of boat. They are hard work for sure!

On to the detail:

-Wash-
Duragloss Marine & RV Wash Concentrate #591
I figure I might as well use a wash that's intended for marine use. It did exactly what it was supposed to do which was to remove all the grime, grease, and other stuff.

-Polish-
Duragloss Marine RV Polish #501
Like I said earlier, he wasn't real concerned about removing scratches and scuffs just because he said he'll get them again the next time he fishes. Since this was the case, I decided to go with this polish. It's basically an all-in-one that cleans & protects. It did a great job of bringing back the shine. I used the Cyclo with Green polishing pads on the top side of the hull and then just used a Wolfgang 2-in-1 applicator for the bottom side of the hull and the inside areas of the boat that the Cyclo can't reach.

-Protect-
Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845
Even though the Duragloss polish was an AIO, I wanted to throw on an extra layer of protection. I read from a few different places that Collinite's boat wax is the same as the Insulator wax so I just stuck to that since I had it on my shelf. I applied with the Wolfgang 2-in-1 applicator.

-Wheels & Tires-
ZEP Degreaser (1:1)
Sprayed on, let sit for a minute, rinsed off. It does the trick!
DP Wheel Gel
This was my first time using this product. It's not very gel-like but it is a little thicker than a liquid. I sprayed it on, let sit, and then rinsed. I also hit the wheels with my wheel Schmitt with the wash shampoo afterwards just to make sure they were completely clean. The more I use the wheel gel, the more I like it. I think it'll be a mainstay in my arsenal.
DP Tire Gel
This was my first time using this product. Let's just say that this product is now easily at the top of my list for tire gels. I'm not a big fan of greasey, overly shiney tires. DP's Tire Gel as you will see gives off a nice matte look. It seems like it really soaks into the tires. Application is easy and a 32oz. bottle will probably last me a lifetime because you don't need to use a lot.

-Vinyl & Plastics-
Aerospace 303
Is there really anything else that you'd want to use in a boat? I didn't think so. Being SPF40, I knew 303 was the best choice. I love the fact that this leaves a more matte finish vs. a greasy finish.

-Windshields-
Plexus
I've used Plexus quite a bit and I've always been impressed with it. I thought the two plastic windshields would give me another chance to see just how good it really works and boy did it! The pics are the proof. On a side note, I unforunately had just ordered DP's Plex-All so I didn't have it in hand yet to do a side-by-side comparison. It's on my list though since I now have a can of it sitting here next to me now.

Ok, now on to the pics.

Befores:

GREAT Looking Ranger!!!!!!! You'll make the folks in Flippin Arkansas proud! (that's where the Ranger plant is).

I used to be a manufacture's rep and sold Ranger OEM pieces (hatch and deck hardware, seat pedestals, etc)....great bunch of people and I fished at Bull Shoals lake with a lot of employee's...fish Sunday, be at the plant Monday LOL.

Thanks!

That'd be cool to work for Ranger. This is the only Ranger I've fished out of. It's one heck of a boat! Even with it only being 175hp motor, it freakin hauls a$$. I can't imagine how fast today's boats are with 225hp+ hanging on the back. I grew up fishing but am no where near his level of talent out on the water. He actually took me fishing the next day but unfortunately the fishing wasn't as good as the detailing..hehe.

That is a sweet write up, nice I enjoyed it. The pictures are really nice and the turn around was incredable. I really like how the wheels look.

Thanks for the compliments! I also really enjoy reading people's write-ups so I figure it's the least I can do .
