2001(2) Toyota Highlander (Flooded)

Let me start off with a little story on how I came to do this job.
Got a call from an owner of a lube shop, a very well respected lube shop at that.
Seems an employee tried cleaning out an AC drain line with a hex head socket, and when he pulled the ratchet? back, the socket stayed in the line. Well, after a month, water was flooding the floor boards.

The owner of the vehicle is a marketing director (?) for Chik-fil-a in another town, about an hour or so away. I picked her vehicle up the other night and left mine with her to drive, since she could not get a rental. When I got home, I spent 3 -3.5 hours removing seats and trim pieces. I wanted to get a head start for the morning. I shut down about 11PM and went to bed. Got back up this morning and hit it again.
I spent 5-6 hours doing R&R.
All the floor boards were soaked, and under the mats, was mold.....
Bought new padding and cut to the proper shape.
Long day of shampooing, scrubbing, cleaning, etc...

I had to dismantle the vents and clean them out as well...

Just got back around 9PM delivering it.

Edit... see the last pic, where the water bottle is... i had to remove the large plastic parts, the ones where the seat belt is hanging down. Both sides. Had to remove them to get to a couple of clips that hold the carpet down. sucked!

The carpet was salvaged. I pressure washed it, then extracted twice. Came out like new. The padding on the other hand, was a loss. I bought a roll of padding, traced all the shapes out and cut out. that took an hour by itself.

How long? about 16 hours. That included driving time, picking up and dropping off, running to get the padding, etc.... Exterior was washed and waxed. I wanted to fully detail the exterior, but time ran out.

I wish I had my other pics, but they were deleted off the camera before I got to download them. I made a boo boo, and now I need a kick in my rear.

wow, sound like a tough job but one that is now the extreme end of what one could do for a really bad car.

16 hrs really wow...that is a lot of work you had to do there. I thought it was a show car like Justin did.

Sounds like you had fun doing this vehicle. Thanks for sharing, don't kick your self to hard becuase I'm sure we have all done that, deleting pictures by accident.

That's more than detailing, lol. Very impressive. I don't think I would take that kind of job........ ever. Props to you!

DAMN! I was about to say that something like that I would never get my hands on, but for $700? Let's do it!!! You could have even outsourced it and still made money off of it!

When I see a vehicle interior stripped out like that, all I can think is patience
and dedication. $50/hr is fair for that kind work.
