Now for this test we need a car that not only needs it but one that its ok if a mistake is made, that's what I really wanna see, one car to do that needs it!
This type of event is intended to be a non-formal hands on learning session. I think it was successful due to having a great bunch of open minded guys willing to share both products and techniques. Reading and learning from a forum is great but no replacement for actual hands on training. The way the detailing industry is changing so much and so quickly lately there is no shortage of subjects for a event such as this. A few things I learned while participating was 1. Bring empty sample bottles for sharing product. 2.Bring a notebook for taking notes and not trying to memorize everything. 3. Take a lot more pictures.
I definitely would like to do this again or even host one here locally when time allows. I hope this serves as a example to others that all it takes to put on a event such as this is a group of like minded enthusiast willing to reach out to one another. You won't regret it.

Well, that's not all it takes--it takes a great venue like you had. We have been trying to get something like this going here in NJ, but the downfall is always that we have no place to hold it. Having a shop like you did with water, power, light, bathroom is a key component.

Back a few years ago I was lucky enough to attend a get together in Evansville In. It was put on by PorscheGuy997. He hosted out of a garage attached to his home. We went outside in the driveway for some corrections on cars from a local Mopar club. He had a couple of hood set up inside for demo and hands on training. This was a great event and was also attended by Jason Rose from Meguiars. A two car garage or some E-Z up canopy in the driveway can be made to work. So a shop is a plus but not mandatory for having a successful event. If the guys are willing to improvise and get involved it can be done. Sometimes we have to try and think outside the box. Talk to local detailers or widow tinting shops about a Sunday event at their shop. When you have a bunch of gear heads there is usually somebody with a place that can accommodate a dozen guys with a restroom and electricity.

You have to watch Paul, he will pull out a sander and start sanding away on your car without warning!

Ditto to what Paul has said here! It was weird being at a "car event" and not even getting into talking about cars too much, that showed me something for sure!

The next event will be even better, there's a lot of great idea's here and we'll put them into motion when the time comes. One in particular, IMO, should be an entire team on one car without stopping, surely we can do that, right?

John, what brand of rinseless wash did you decide on and what size did you get? Also, search Amazon.com for that Aqua sponge too, its cheapest place around and you can get that measureable bucket at any home improvement store. The mf 5 fingered glove for cleaning the tires/wheels I got from Autozone, use up all that rinseless wash before you dump it I say!

I think if Roger could run two buffers, he would have done that too!

Yeah, you would think...part of the problem is finding someone who wants a dozen guests they've never met before. Kudos to your host.
