85' Toyota MR2

’85 MR2
Single Stage Red Paint
I was in search of the perfect vehicle for me to detail and test XMT4. This vehicle was not cared for at all. The paint was chalky pink and the interior was a mess. That’s why I jumped at the chance to detail this one. There were a lot of scratches and some rust but overall the condition of the car was not bad as far as dings or scrapes. The tires were fairly new but the rims were shot.

Here are a few before pics.

Wash - Two bucket method Pinnacle Shampoo, white ShMitt. The paint was so dry that it felt as though I was putting a MF to dry concrete.

Interior – Vacuum all interior and mats done. I also used Folex on the mats to remove some spots. To remove all of the built up dust I simply wiped the interior with DP Surface Protectant. I went back a few days later and hit the interior again with DPSP, I love that banana scent.

Tires – DP Wheel Gel with black ShMitt, completed with AA Extreme Gel wiped down with MF.

Windows – Diamondite Perfect Vision with Cobra Glass Towel.

Paint – Products used: XMT 4, XMT2, XMT 1, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant and Souveran Past as the LSP.

Here’s a series a of pics that run from XMT4 – XMT1

XMT4 with a yellow Edge pad made a tremendous change in the paint.

XMT3/Green Edge

XMT2/Orange Edge

XMT1/Blue Edge

Here’s a split hood shot with the tape off.

At this point I started to work on the other side of the hood and decided to go from XMT4 to XMT2 and then XMT1 on the rest of the car.

MR2 Afters

Once I finished the XMT series I applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant twice and then topped it off with 2 coats of Souveran Paste.

After

Thanks for looking.
All comments and questions are appreciated.

Wow, I did enjoy that, step by step. That was great seeing that. I'd applause you for doing that. You made that car look new.
