My first paint correction.

Did my first full paint correction today. The paint was near on for shagged. So many swirls, so much hazing and marring. There was a really thick coat of wax on it covering up heaps of crap. Once I stripped back the wax and clayed it (I rubbished 2 clay bars on this thing), I knew what I was working with.

So basically what I did was:

Wash with dish soap to remove the wax, rinse.
Foam gun, rinse.
Wash, rinse, dry.
Clay bar, dry.
WGTSR 3.0 + blue light cutting pad for most surfaces (roof and bonnet needed M. Ultimate Compound)
WGFG 3.0 with Orange polishing pad.
WGDGPS applied by hand.

Tomorrow I'm going to just hit it with some DG Auquawax and she should be sweet.

Total of 9 hours spent today. I'm completely rooted. I lunched 2 of my blue (cyan) cutting pads. They just disintegrated for whatever reason. Realised I'm going to need some stronger cutting pads too because the WGTSR and blue pad didn't even touch the marring on the roof, and that was with my Concours 900 on speed setting 6 and using basically all the force I could with slow arm movement.

Anyway, enough jibber jabber, time for some pics...

Before...

After...

Thanks for looking and reading!

Any feedback is welcome.

Looks nice!

Too much pressure is probably what destroyed your pads.

Re: My first paint correction.

Looks great!

You took a swirled-out mess and made it look better than a new car on the dealership showroom floor.

Nice work!

Re: My first paint correction.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

So to stop lunching my pads in future, should I buy a couple stronger cutting pads to use with the M. Ultimate Compound? I really liked it as a product. It dusted up much less than the WGTSR, and had more cut. When I took the shot pads off my polisher, the backing plate was very hot, which I don't think helped. It would be nice to be able to apply less pressure and get the same amount of cut.

Are you talking about the 5.5" Hydro-Tech pads?

Or something else?

Re: My first paint correction.

This kit here Mike...

Lake Country H2O 5.25" Pad Kit

I think I might just need a 6" yellow pad from Lake Country?

Can I use a 6.5 inch pad on a 6" backing plate?
