Hooray black!!! Always a fun color to detail...a pain to do but the rewards are always worth it....This G35 is actually regualrly maintained by the typical wash and swirl...he pays extras for the "hand wax" option...so to most people this is a professional detail...in this scenario I use the term professional very loosely....needles to say the car was very clean on the inside... a nice change after my last couple details....but the paint was swirled to all hell....it goes to show that its not about how often you wash and wax but how you go about doing it...very similar to the mustang I did a few weeks back...
on to the process...
WASH
Being a black car I tend to make sure lubricity is the top of my priorities...first I foamed the entire car with ONR...2 oz of ONR and filled the rest of the foam gun quart with water...next i mixed 1oz of wash n gloss with 1oz of ONR...my new favorite mix...micro chenille mit and a huge mf to dry
CLAY
The paint contamination wasn't actually that bad..being regularly washed and waxed does a good job of keeping contaminants at bay and the car is still fairly new...the vertical panels of the car passed the plastic baggie test...horizontal panels like the roof/hood/trunk lid all got clayed using megs smooth surface kit....a fair amount of stuff came up...I still hit up the vertical panels like the doors..but just real quick..no contaminants were really being lifted anyway
WHEELS
Often missed by most car wash places...these were in descent shape but in the pics you can still see a brown tint to them of brake dust...these were probably just pressure washed but were not actually scrubbed down...PB Wheel Cleaner as usual was my go to on this...and of course the car wash he goes to doesn't do the wheel wells...
POLISH
Definitely a little bit of a challenge...black is always fun...very unforgiving...this particular clearcoat marred/swirled very easily..wiping to agressively even with my softest and newest cobra mf towel still induced marring and sometimes re-introduced swirls and scratches...took a lot of qd and my new waterless aio to get enough lubricity to not marr the paint while wiping down...some panels took me two or three rounds of final polish to correct the paint properly...The swirls and scratches on this paint were very inconsistent...my products varied from my entire diamond cut line to ssr2.5 and ssr1..pro polish got the job for the final finish...every pad of the edge system was used to correct this paint...I swear the paint swirled just from looking at it...
TIRES, WELLS, and TRIM
Tires got VRP...the wells got Silk Shine...and the plastic trim got restored with my new fav extreme gel...

INTERIOR
For once I got a clean interior..just touched up the dressing with 303 protectant...and got a quick vaccuming...of course I hit up all the spots car washes miss...vents, doors, under the seats, etc...and I went ahead and striped the carpets...this client works in a restaurant so I made sure to deodorize the carpets
LSP
First I started with Natty Blue...obviously I like this stuff because it works great on dark colors...but I was debating about what my second coat was going to be...so I broke out the Souveran Paste and went to town..definitely brought out that last bit of something I was looking for in the paint..

A 50/50 shot of a nasty scratch on the hood...this is my first pass at fixing it..too deep in a couple spots to completely fix but obviously it looks much better..and this hood was loaded with front paint chips..you can see all the little white specs that are the chips
