2011 Mini Cooper S - full paint correction and Opti-Guard and CQuartz coating

Did this car a little while ago and just now getting some time to post it up. Owner brought this in as a basically brand new car with hardly any miles on it. After having key parts wrapped in satin vinyl and getting clear bra installed on the front end, the task was to fully correct the paint and permanently protect it with Optimum Opti-Guard. The paint, plastics, wheels, and lights would all be coated with Opti-Guard and the glass would be coated with CQuartz.

About 20 hours altogether.

Upon arrival

Swirls on the A-pillar

Swirls and RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) seen on the hood

Some swirls in the clear film that would require some correction

Spraying the wheels down with Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner, a pH balanced cleaner safe for all wheel types.

The Mini Daytona Speedmaster Wheel Brush getting the wheel barrels nice and clean.

Inner barrels looking great

Foaming the car with a mix of Dawn and APC

Using the Swissvax detail brush to clean up the hard to reach areas

Washed, clayed, and ready for taping

Some cars need just a little taping and some need a lot.....this was the latter.

Sorting out the A-Piller

The C-Pillars required extensive correction

....other side

One more to go

Re: 2011 Mini Cooper S - full paint correction and Opti-Guard and CQuartz coating

Correction completed on the roof

Lots more taping for correcting the rest of the paint.

Door edges and around the handles had clear film as well and was protected via 3M Fine Line 1/4" tape.

Hood fully corrected

Onto the wheels which needed some decent correction as well...

After compounding

Wheel looking much better

Pain fully corrected

50/50 of Opti-Guard on the trim

Engine tidied up as well

Finished pics after finishing the coating

Interior needed little work, but was cleaned up as well

Opti-Guard gave a great look to the vinyl wrap covering the factory chrome trim.

Re: 2011 Mini Cooper S - full paint correction and Opti-Guard and CQuartz coating

You did a truely awesome job on this car, still hard to believe a new car needs so much attention but you've proved it once again, doesn't matter if its new, it still needs attention. Now those wheels, although they match the car's theme, there's NO WAY IN HELL I'd ever have gloss black wheels on anything, even if it were a toy, NO WAY IN HELL!

I had an R56 that I bought new in 2007 and had to turn in after the lease was up, nothing but trouble with the car, it seems they don't do well in the cold and have troubles with the aux fuel pump, went through 3 of them, a fuel injector, frozen throttle, new intake manifold under warrenty, new timing chain (thankfully done under warrenty!!!) and finally a MAF, not under warrenty. Wish your client good luck with the car, I looked forward to getting in it everyday though, loved that car!

Re: 2011 Mini Cooper S - full paint correction and Opti-Guard and CQuartz coating

X2 on the pillars. Also what was the procedure on the roof.

I just polished out my pillars and roof and opti-coated them. Wasn't too bad but effort had to be put in. The pillars swirl up after one wash, hopefully the Opti-coat protects from that.

Also x2 on the mini having problems. 08 mini cooper s 30k miles here. Had to replace the thermostat housing and rebuild the head cause the timing chain snapped :-(
