Hyundai i20 - Detailed by Lawrence

Some pics of what she looked like when she arrived...

First up was the cleaning of the wheels.
These were rinsed with the HP washer and then sprayed with APC which was left to dwell before being agitated with various brushes. Tires were treated with Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel.

Total time spent on wheels = 1:00

Next was the washing and drying of the car.
I sprayed all door jambs, badges, boot jamb, door handles, petrol cap etc with APC and left to dwell before being agitated with various brushes. The entire car was then rinsed using the HP washer. I then made a mixture of Maxi Suds and APC for the foam cannon. Car was covered in foam and this was left to dwell for a while before being rinsed off. The car was then washed using the 2BM with Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo and a Chenille Wash Mitt. Entire car was then dried in preparation for claying.

    Total time spent washing/drying = 1:15

    Next was claying.
For this I used some Meguiars Clay and Quick Detailer. After doing the baggie test it was evident that I would have my work cut out for me.

In the pictures below you can clearly see a small black spot (which is some form of bonded contaminant).

After a few passes of the clay you can see it starting to disappear

    And voila, all gone!

Total time spent claying = 3:30

    Next up was Polishing
Upon inspection of the paint it became clear that the car had been generally well taken care of and there were not too many swirl marks to deal with. I taped up the car and after a few test spots settled on a combination of Menzerna SF4000 on an LC Orange CCS Pad on setting 5.

Total time spent polishing = 3:15

    Next was another wash
In order to remove any of the painters tape residue, polishing dust (although there wasn't a lot) and to make sure the car was 100% clean prior to sealing, I mixed up a solution of Maxi Suds and hit it with the foam cannon before rinsing and drying off.

Total time spent on 2nd Wash and Dry = 1:00

    Next up was the LSP
Given the color of the car I decided to use a sealant instead of a wax and settled on Smart Wax Smart Sealant. This was applied using the DA polisher with a wax applicator pad on setting 2. Product was applied and left to haze before being buffed off with quality MF cloths

Total time spent on LSP =1:00

I then called it a night at 23:30

Up early the next morning I tackled the interior
All carpets/upholstery was brushed and vacuumed. All interior trim was treated with Smart Wax Smart Dressing.

In the pic below the right half has had 1 coat of Smart Dressing

Total time spent on interior = 2:30

    Then onto the engine
Although I don't normally detail engines (I am a little risk averse ops: ) I had to open the engine cover to dry off around the front grill when I noticed this.

So I decided to give it a quick wipe down with a MF cloth and some APC so that it looked like this...

So, not really an engine detail, but just a quick wipe down to remove surface dust/dirt.

Total time spent on engine = 0:45

And then finally, when it came time for the after shots on the completed car, the sun ran away and the clouds and rain came :bang: and so the lighting was terrible and the color looks all different, but in real life that flake pop was awesome and the customer really happy!

    Before

    After

Total time spent on the detail = 14:15

    Thanks for looking.

That thing was a mess in the before shots. Very good work bringing it back.
