| | | DETAILED: 2005 Acura RSX Type S - Orange Metallic Hey guys, first off let me say this, detailing in warm weather (65) is 125% different than detailing in 40 degrees. Holy crap, I though I enjoyed detailing before (paint correction), I sure do love it now. Paint correction was soooo incredibly much easier and quicker.
The car is a good friend of mine (co-worker) and has had it since it was new. There were some decent swirl marks, but nothing to serious. He takes pretty good care of it already. I felt bad because he just cleaned the wheels and dressed the tires a few days ago. What did I do? Clean them again and stripped off his tire shine, Haha! Process: Washed with 1.5 ounce of DG901 and about 1/2 oz. of Dawn in 2 gallon water (two bucket method) and dried with Guzzler. I used my 1400PSI PW along with the water filter here off AG. I was quite pleased. My water is VERY hard, so there wasn't a "spotfree" finish. However, any water spots wiped off absolutely effortlessly, there was no scrubbing, etc. etc. to try and get a dried waterspot off. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Cleaned wheels with DP Gel wheel cleaner, cleaned tires and fenderwells with purple power 1:1. For tires and wheels used Black shmitt and fenderwells used Mother's fenderwell brush. Tires dressed with Optimum Tire shine.
Glass cleaned with DP Krystal vision (my friend loveddd this stuff) and Cobra glass towel.
Now for the fun stuff. We didn't have a lot of time, and we were just having fun, so we decided to polish the hood. I broke it down into 4 sections simply to try some combos out. I used everything from XMT3 on green pad, XMT 4 on yellow pad, and XMT4 on green pad. XMT4 on yellow pad worked wonderfully and got some of the deeper scratches out that XMT3 and green pad juts couldn't get. However, XMT 4 (both with yellow pad and green pad) left some good buffer trails.
I went over the entire hood with Orange wave pad and XMT2. (turned out flawless). I'm glad I got the Orange wave pad, for it worked much better than the flat Orange pad. I feel that the stiff, firm, and dense foam of the orange pad gets very lopsided easily. With the wave orange pad, it was easy to keep flat. Finish: The main reason I wanted to do his car was to try some PINK MOOSE (Clearkote VM and RMG mixed 50/50) and DP MaxWax (metallic). Applied pink moose with PC and Edge Blue pad on speed 3.5. Buffed off by hand. Then applied MaxWax by hand and buffed off by hand.
I also tried some DG 870 aluminum polish for his exhaust tip. Holy crap! I really wish I took before pics, there are some after pics from the side though. With a little elbow grease, the grime came right off. We were shocked to know the tip was chrome!
And now for the PICS!:
Before: (this turned out really bad!, I'm very disappointed) After: I know I had an after of the wheels, something got messed up on my camera I guess and I lost a few pics. |
