Exterior Detail: 1998 Chevy 1500

Well today was an easy. I had a lot of errands to run plus my wife was gone out town. This meant I had to pick the kids up at 2:30 today. So my day was shot. I owed one of my close friends a Christmas wash/wax so I picked today to take care of it. It was also another good test subject for XMT#4. This is just an exterior only.

Wheels, Tires, and Wells
(Purple Power on all)
I also hit the lower panels and bug infested grill with this degreaser. The poor truck had not been washed in over 3 months.

Wash Cycle
(NXT Tech Wash with black Wheel ShMitt)
Just a good old wash and scrub here.

Paint Correction
Pinnacle's XMT#4
(Yellow EDGE2K Cutting pad at #5 PC setting)
My plan was just to wash and wax but the hood was covered in waterspots and swirls. I decided to go over the truck fast.......I didn't want to spend all day on it. So, I removed about 60-75% of the imperfections. I managed to keep away from marring, even with this aggressive setup. The trick is to wait just before the compound starts to go clear and then back off the pressure and let the weight of the machine do the work. I also crank it up to #6 and move over the paint really fast. This, to me, finally polishes the paint since the diminishing abrasives are almost broke down.

Paint Protection
Pinnacle's Liquid Souveran
(White EDGE2K Finishing Pad at a #4 PC setting)
I haven't used this wax in a while. I remember doing some darker colored Supras last year with it and loved the results. Boy, I remember why now! Goes on thin with little product usage. I let it dry for 30 minutes in the sun on dark paint. Came off very easy still. Gave a nice glow to paint and left it soft to the touch. Tons of depth too.

Tires and Wells
Pinnacle's Black Onyx Tire Gel and Armor All Tire Foam

Befores.......

Afters.......

This is after one, 3 minute pass.

Sweet!! In the first few pics, the truck didn't look too bad for not being washed in over 3 months. Close-ups proved different.
AFTER pics really show a BIG difference! Nice reflection shots of the guys, and the last hood shot is deep!! XMT4 really cleaned up nice!! Big difference in these 2 shots!! Great work as always, Justin!! Even though it was a quickie for you.

you never cease to amaze me, Justin. Even though you didnt get all of the swirls out, it looks 100% better. Judging by it previous condition, if you're not the one to keep up with it, I'm sure it will return to it original state soon.

nice job, man.

Thanks guys. I only put 1.5 hours in this one. I was shocked by what XMT#4 can do so fast.

Imagine it with a rotary........

I can!
