| | | Bmw M5 When the Bimmer shop calls, I never know what I am walking into. I get the call, and head down. So when I get there I am like ok what do I get to play with today. We walk around back to find it, it is a black 1988 BMW M5.
When I heard the year model, I knew it was a single stage paint. I walked the car to see any problems, and the owners son goes. Did you see the thined paint on the trunk deck. Not yet I said, he said his dad tried to make the car look better. In my mind I am going( just great I get to finish what he started)
They washed the M5 the day before, it didn't look that way to me. So out came the wash. Wash with Optimum car wash The finish felt very rough, and I know it was going to need a good clay.
It was night and day after it was done.
The paint had very server swirl/cobbwebbing. And I knew it wasn't all coming out, without major paint loss. So I did a test area to see how my process was going to go. I went with my mix of PB PwS and XMT4. The reason is I am trying to see what and how the xmt will work for me.
I used the pc and a green edge pad at 3-4 then vamped in up to 6 Finished off with Pinnacle Spray Souveran It doesn't get any easier Poorboy's Trim Restorer on exterior trim
The clay just after half the roof.
What the finish looked like
The green edge pad, just after the left front fender
Half the hood for comparison
and Paint loss from owner
All done, the silver bmw behide it is his new one

| | | Great job, Ed!! I agree with AL417 and Nica, that split hood shot really shows what XMT4 can do!
