2004 BMW 330 Ci in black

Detailed this 330 Ci over the weekend. The customer contacted me through a PM on another forum after seeing one of my other details. Really cool guy and he seemed very happy with the results.

This was very difficult paint to correct - seemingly more difficult than the '02 740 I recently did. I initially tried some OC with a light cutting pad on the hood, but after a couple passes only had so-so results. I moved on to OHC with a cutting pad for the rest of the car with much better results.

I hope you approve, Toto!!!

Process:

Wash with foam gun, Meg's GC, sea sponge
Sonus green clay
OHC with Edge yellow pad @ 1500 RPM
OP with Edge blue pad @ 1200 RPM
Prime via PC @ speed 5
AJT
Pinnacle Black Onyx Gel on tires

Before...

Tons of swirls...

Afters...

Close up of the hood. The sun was a bit behind the clouds here. Best pic I could get...

Thanks for looking!

Awesome! My gf has the same black BMW, but with different rims. Pretty hard paint, huh? sounds like a job for Menzerna PO106FF.

Absolutely awesome. The swirls are gone. You're good! Beautiful job!
How long did it take you to do the detail?

Freak'n kidding me! That is one turn around bro!!!

Very wet and reflective. I can see that there was a ton of prep time in this one. I see more and more good things about Optimum's products everyday.

What rotary did you use?

Thanks for posting!

Thanks everyone!

sparkie, it took about 6 1/2 hours. I also did a light detail on the interior which took a bit of time - wash mats, vacuum, clean glass, 303.

Thanks, justin. I really like the Optimum polishes. Although, like supercharged mentioned, I was actually wondering if some PO106FF would've worked even better (faster) on this car. I may try some out someday. I use the Hitachi rotary. Really happy with it.
