I don't think they spray different colors with different clearcoats, but I could be wrong.
The Mustang looks great.....that's how you do it! Now, if we could just train Lauren!! |

| | | After a couple quick PM's with Justin, I'm going to try a few things tomorrow.
Litlle less pressure with yellow pad and #3. I think I may have been breaking down the polish too much and thus inhibiting some of the scratches. Hopefully with some more practice, a light polishing of orange pad and #1 will make it look nice.
Also, I want to try #3 and green pad, see what that can do. I'm interested to see how good XMT #3 is.
And finally, green pad again with XMT #2. I used this on my Mom's car and worked really really well. |

1.) camera was about 3 feet from the car
2.) the only real light was the halogen light
3.) no flash on the camera |

| | Also, using #1, and a polish, like AIO, these will get rid of anything that was left behind from #3.
You'll see what I'm talking about when you use #3, #1 (if needed), AIO, sealant/wax..
Best of luck to you.. |

Best of luck to you.. | You'd think #1 would get rid of everything left. Not on this hard CC. I had to use green and #2 after the #3/yellow first.
Tomorrow I'm going to mess around more with pressure/working time, rather than combos. Hopefully then I can go straight to a light polish of #1/orange pad, or maybe even straight to LSP. |

| | | When using #2, were you able to clear up the problems? If not, then it seems maybe you didn't let the #3 polish break down long enough..
Roughly, how long did use the machine, and on what speed? |

Roughly, how long did use the machine, and on what speed? | O, it's breaking down all right. Speed 6 with edge pads. 5 min for the 2x2 area. You could see the abbrasives broke down.
It's cool, it's fun to me. Still learning, and looking forward to tomorrow. |

| | That sounds about right; although using #2 to get rid of anything left from #3 doesn't seem right, though. If you encounter anything from #3, it should be very light. #1 SHOULD take care of this, but I guess not in this instance. I will stop replying, as I have used other products for removing deep swirls. Just trying to pull things out, that hopefully others can finish.
Best of luck to you tomorrow bud..

I asked Sparkie and Lauren and they helped me out, I guess it all depends on the car and the clear coat. The reason is funny because I thought I had to go through all three steps, meaning XMT #3, XMT #2, XMT #1 and I actually did try this but it only gave me some micromarring. It got rid of the scratches and swirls but it left some micromarring.
This picture, that is how my Volvo looked after green pad and XMT#3.
It's looking good buddy let us know how the rest goes. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
