Dark Metallic Blue BMW 530i Today

Started on a pretty nice 530i that was detailed approx. 4 months ago. It looked pretty good from 10 feet away, but close inspection showed buffer lines and surface scratching.

Wash + Rotary Polish with AIO. Then repeated AIO with a PC. This process seems to bring a higher level of reflection and gloss IMO.

Tomorrow, I start on chip filling and the interior.

Washed outside (beautiful weather for Kansas in late October) mid-70-s

Closeup of some surface scratching

Indoor shot of hood reflection after AIO

Another reflection shot. I GOTTA GET A TRIPOD FOR THESE INDOOR SHOTS!

Overall shot of the car under the lights

Overall, I'm getting used to the Makita rotary..but it sure is heavy on this old man's arms. On the plus side, I suppose I'm getting a decent upper body workout which should make my doctor happy.

Later folks!

Toto

with Joe.P, number 3 the best. Looks deep and wet.
Are you going to top AIO with anything?

I like that third picture.
One hint, AIO looks "O.K." by itself, but that BMW will look much better if you top it off with Wolfgang sealant, or perhaps Souveran. That will make it look really wet!

The shop can hold 5 vehicles without a lot of squeezing. Normally, I leave 2-3 of the cars in their place and put one outside. That gives me a nice work area with all the lighting. I also put car covers on the ones in the shop to keep the dusting to a minimum.

It is a great place to detail...I've even had potential customers come over to watch and that's fun because I can educate them on proper wash techniques, etc.

Sparkie and Supercharged: Yep, I'll put a coat of Wofgang DGS after I fill in the chips (there's probably 25-30 to fill and wet sand...the shop owner is not a "blob it on" chip filler type of person). I might even throw a coat of Souveran just for kicks!
