2009 BRG Mini Converible

One of our club members alerted me last month that she was taking delivery of a 2009 Mini. I told them to NOT let the dealer get near the paint, and I'd take care of it. So we made arrangements for me to detail it. They took delivery Sat June 27, and I detailed it Sunday June 28! We agreed that the dealer could prep the interior, and I'd take care of the rest.

The car was in nice shape. The interior detail left some things to be desired, so I ended up going over the interior and doing a quickie vacuum and wipe down. Made sure everything had UV protection. The paint was swirl free, but the vinyl hood racing stripes were a mess already and you can't really polish them out. They are VERY prone to water stains. I may try a chemical cleaner next time. Anyone done this?

Wash:
Lower areas sprayed with Surf City Grime Destroyer
2BM with PB SS&S & Grit guard in the rinse bucket
Added some DP Rinseless Wash and Gloss as a water softener

Wheels:
Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner
Daytona Speed Master Brush
Various other brushes.
Wheel Wells got Megs APC+ 10:1
Tires dressed with Megs Hot Tire Shine (2 coats, wiped off immediately upon application)
Wheels sealed with Optimum Poli-Seal

Jambs:
PB APC 10:1
Trim & seals - PB Trim Restorer

Glass:
Stoner's Instant Glass

Paint Correction:
Megs Ultimate Compound on Edge 4" Orange Pad (had 2 light scuffs)

Polish:
None Needed!

LSP:
Optimum Poli-Seal
Topped with Surf City Barrier Reef Liquid Carnauba (AWESOME STUFF)

The Pics:

After wash and clay (rear)

After wash and clay (side)

After Poli-Seal and SC wax

After Poli-Seal and SC wax (reflection)

Final result

As always comments welcome

looks good, digging the BRG.

You said polish not needed? Why not try a light finishing polish on the stripes for the spots ? Or vinegar? I know optiseal is good stuff, just some more to try.

Re: 2009 BRG Mini Converible

Experience told me that a light polish would not work on the spots. Didn't have any vinegar handy.

Excellent idea. I'll try that the next time I detail a Mini.

Very nice job. Very ugly color and very ugly wheels. At least it's clean and shiny.
