did some work on my tailgate

the past week I have been working on wet sanding , buffing, and using touch up paint. here are some before pictures

here are some nasty scratches around where the original dealer sticker was.

and a huge gash

i first used a solvent to strip all the wax and product from the paint, then i touched up the huge scratch with some touch up paint from autozone. after i let the paint dry over night i wet sanded the touchup paint so it was even with the original paint.

then i used my g110 with an orabge cobra cross groove pad

and meguiars #2

and took care of these scratches

then i whent over it with meguiars #7 showcar polish

and here is the outcome of the scratch

and where the dealer name was

i think i did better than i expected, thought that i was gonna sand all the way to a primer for some reason. tell me what you guys think

-kory

Great job. I want to get into wet sanding some but im afraid i wont be able to remove all the sanding scratches with my PC. Did you have any trouble with your dual action?

How does it look to you in person? Have you looked at it in the sun?

Re: did some work on my tailgate

yah, it looks like a new tailgate with a slite "scratch" in it. no swirls, no deep scratches, just the little line you see

Re: did some work on my tailgate

I guess you just can't get the color of the paint to match perfectly, but it probably looks a 100xs better than before. Good job.
