2008 Vw Gti

This is a detail of a 2008 VW GTI for a fellow forum member. The car was brand new and the owner avoided dealer prep which made the detail so much easier. There was some minor swirling from improper wash techniques.

The client only wanted an exterior detail but I did the interior at no charge.

Process:

Pre-soak via Foam Gun with Megs NXT and ## CWG
Wash with 2BM and Poorboys SSS
Clay with Clay Magic Blue
Polish with Optimum Polish (new version) via Makita 9227 with Sonus White Pad
Polish with Optimum Polish (new version) via PC and 4 inch pad
LSP=Detailers Pride Surface Sealant
Wheels cleaned with Megs All Wheel Cleaner
Tires cleaned with Eagle One Tire Cleaner
Tires dressed with Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray
Exhaust polished with 0000 steel wool and Poorboys Metal Polish
Glass cleaned with Zep Glass Cleaner
Headlights polished via OP and Megs Plastix
Engine wiped down with ONR and dressed with CD2

Awesome work!!! I love this little cute Golf! Not many small vehicles look so cute, most of them are just plain ugly...

Pat looks awesome as always, I love those cars. I detailed a couple of years ago a 20th anniversary Rabbit, was a good friends. The car drove amazing!! Have a couple pictures to share. If I was good with having a small car, this would be the way I would go.

How well did the Optimum polish deal with the light swirls? VW/Audi uses a hard clear and it's usually a lot of work getting swirls out.

It's tough keeping this swirl-free:

I too would like to know how hard or easy it was to work on the paint of this mkv vw. I have read many mixed reviews regard the clear coat hardness on the newer vw lately, some even suggesting its soft now (candy white mkv gti posted by another member). And great work on that dub.

Re: 2008 Vw Gti

I had no issues at all with the VW paint and the new OP. It left the paint almost perfect and was a pleasure to work with. Now keep in mind that this was a new car and it did have some minor swirling from improper wash techniques.

The new OP is much thicker than the older versions and has more cut.

I have the same black GTI (07) with an intake and stage 1 software. great car for the money.

You did nice work. Those reflections are awesome.

I haven't done much recently on my own GTI, but this is a shot of my first experimenting with opti-seal.
