2005 Lexus GX470

The detail up for today was a relative's 2005 Lexus GX470. As many others around the country, we have been having some weird weather recently. There have been rain showers almost every day for the past week and today looked to be promising. Right when I got the SUV there was a light shower but no big deal. It was rain free until 2 minutes after I delivered the vehicle, when the skies opened up. It was delivered back to their work so it has to sit in the rain -- the water beaded though :rockon. At least I didn't have to drive it in the rain and get road grime on it ...

Anyways, the specifics of the detail. Knowing that there was a good chance there was going to be rain either today or shortly there after, I didn't want to use an LSP that would streak if it got wet without fully curing. The paint was in fairly decent condition with minimal swirling or marring. There was a bunch of contamination which seems to be a trend on huge SUVs. So I decided to use a 4" LC orange light cut pad on the PC with Poorboy's PwS and I removed that with the new OCW. I figured this combo would leave the least amount of LSP residue behind which could streak in the rain. The interior was dirty because of two kids and was relatively easy to clean. Nothing a little water, Folex and a LGCM couldn't take care of.

Really nice work, a couple months I did a the same one in white, I choose to use xmt 360 on it came out really nice, same interior about the same condition, used the lgm to w/heater. Customer gave an extra large tip.

It sure is a nice vehicle, drives nicely too. I really hate the Toyota undercoating in the rear wheel well. This, the 4 Runners and now the new Tundras have the undercoating and dirt just sticks to it like no tomorrow. It is nearly impossible to clean them, I wonder if a pressure washer would make it easier? Anyways, thanks for the comments.

Not really ... it is a large vehicle so be prepared to spend more time on the paint than normal. Just watch out for that undercoating ... it's a major PITA, and if you can figure out a nice way to clean it, post up

I did a Sequoia today with the same coating and it is near impossible to get it clean (to our standards) and I used a pressure washer. Anyone have a method or product that will do the trick?

Nice detail BTW. The Sequoia I did today was the same color, which, might I say, isn't the most flattering - but those GX's are nice tanks, no doubt.
