Bimmer's: Blue 745i and Metallic Black 750Li

Boy, it's been "big car" week at the shop!

This 2002 745i is Toledo Blue and has 87,000 miles. It was 87/k scratchy!...lots of little annoying stuff. So, it was wetsanded in numerous spots with 2500 grit followed by Trizact 3000 pads on an air orbital sander. That step really preps a finish for compounding!

I started with a compound pad and 3M Extra Cut, but wool proved to be a better choice of pads. Following that, I used Dark Glaze, then Ultrafina. My final step was 3M Performance Finish. You AutoGeekers should order some and try it! It was burnished into the finish with a Meguiar's finish pad on the rotary and there is zero buffing with a microfiber. Just a quick detailer to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Motor cleaned

Compounded with wool...after wetsanding trunk lid.

Ready to go outside after burnishing Performance Finish

The color definitely shows a pearl base...really nice.

Rear bumper is glass smooth!

This 02 is ready for a new home! The condition is superb now!

Next up was a Black Metallic 750Li...this looked like a twin to the luxury 760Li that I recently finished. Even has the same wheels! This 2006 had the usual scratches and swirls.

Compounded with foam and Extra Cut and polished

Finished with Ultrafina, washed and a final step of Meguiar's #21 Synthetic burnished with the rotary

Now, I'm downsizing to 2 more 5 Series!

Toto

Good Lord Man!....I'd have to get a heart transplant with that number in a week. I typically do 2-3 cars per week..but they have to be ready for sale which means trunks and motors as well as body appearance.

I've got 2 5 Series this coming week and a couple of trade-in's.

Beautiful. I'd love to see pics after the air sanding sometime.
