1966 Ford Mustang

Today's detail is of a pure classic. A 1966 Ford Mustang with an original 15,000 miles on the odometer. The car was purchased at Barrett Jackson and has an original 289 cubic inch engine. The paint has some issues and is at about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. Needless to say I love working on the classics. I didn't want to go to hard on this 42 year old paint so I decided to do my best to clean it up.

The owner is a true car freak. Tomorrow he takes delivery of a 1976 2002 BMW. A new Nissan GTR is on order and should be here in August. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

When I was done I had to take the owner to pick up his 1974 Nissan 240Z that was being worked on at the the shop.

Process (7.5 hours no breaks)

Foam with ## CWG and EO Wash Soap in Foam Gun
Wash with 2 Bucket Method and Ultima Wash Soap
Clay with Clay Magic blue clay
Interior cleaned with Woolite 6:1
Interior vinyl dressed with Sonus Total Eclipse
Polish with Menzerna 106FF via Makita 9227 with Sonus white pad at 1500 rpm
Polish with Menzerna Glaze via UDM and Sonus blue pad
LSP=S100
Glass Cleaned with Zep Glass Cleaner
Wheels polished with Wenol Metal Polish
All exterior metal polished with NXT metal polish
Engine wiped down with Citrus Klean degreaser 8:1 and dressed with CD2
Tires dressed with Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray

Great work and what a piece of Americana. Not many cars can make Cream paint look so good, this one makes it look sexy. You did an awesome job for a light clean up.

Very nice Pat, detailing that must have been a pleasure more than work.

Re: 1967 Ford Mustang

Great job, sweet car (looks like a '66' to me. Unfortunately I'm old eneough to remember how much buzz they brought to the Ford dealers in 65 when I was a senior in H.S.).

Cheers

Re: 1967 Ford Mustang

Doh !! Just reread your post where you clearly state it is a '66' !! Got me with the title. BTW, how is the durability with the Sonus Total Eclipse ? Again, an awsome job on a great classic !

Cheers
