Awesome results on my Ti cat-back tips!

Well, I had my titanium cat-back off the car to get some bypass pipes welded in....and since I got the car, the tips have looked pretty nasty. I've tried NXT All Metal Polysh with no luck.

Since I had the exhaust off, I decided I should do something about it, so it became time to test some products!

I went and got some Wolfgang MetallWerkT Aluminum Compound and some MetallWerkT Fine Aluminum Polish. I did not use the Concours polish as the finish was not fine enough to take advantage of such a fine polish. These tips are flash-chromed titanium, which is a very thin finish....so I didn't want to go TOO crazy and risk messing up my exhaust!

I used 2 LC 3" polishing balls. Links to products here:
Wolfgang MetallWerk Aluminum Compound
Wolfgang MetallWerk™ Fine Aluminum Polish
2 Pack 3 Inch Lake County Wool-Ball Wool Polishing Balls

I don't need to tell you how rough these tips were looking...just look at them!

The tools:

Here you can see the compound doing its job:

After compounding:

And after the fine polish:

Sorry, this pic came out kind of blurry but you get the point

Another side-by-side:

And finally on the car! Sorry it's filthy...this isn't a garage queen

And what would a cat-back be without a cat?

In case anyone is wondering, there was a small area between the tips that the LC ball could not get to, so I had to do that by hand...but overall, I am very impressed with these Wolfgang metal polishes! Now I just need to top them off with the WG metal sealant so the shine lasts.

She is a very cool cat...no one in my family ever liked cats until I decided to adopt her one day. My favorite part about her is she's completely insane, so she puts on a good show.

Re: Awesome results on my Ti cat-back tips!

Nice job, I have used Never Dull wadding polish and was not thrilled with the outcome. I have used Wenol metal polish and it seemed to do a pretty good job.

I will have to give your process a shot and see how the tips turn out.

Thanks for the info!

Re: Awesome results on my Ti cat-back tips!

Great job Matt, everyone can look forward to many reviews from Matt, he is a car care guru and loves trying out products. If anyone has any special requests let him know and he can arrange for a review. He will have to check his cat's schedule to see if she is available for the photos of course!
