Re: Started Black BMW 745Li with NASTY Tan interior

Well, today I started on the body and wanted to use the System One product...but the dealer insisted (really, demanded) that I use 3M start-to-finish. Being these are his cars and he calls the shots, I used the Edge yellow wool and 3M P-III compound. Man, the grit is everywhere!...I'll have to power wash this vehicle before the next step (3M Swirl Remover or the old dark glaze).

Oh well, he pays for my knowledge and labor, but I suspect he has a 3M tattoo or sits on the Board of Director's for them.

Here's what I am starting with

This car has been painted in 4 different panels by a hack, so a lot of wetsanding was in order.

Paint overspray

I'll post some additional pics after the dreaded power wash in winter weather.

Clay: SUPER HANDY!....I'm able to comfortably work on the lower 1/3 of any car (especially BMW Z cars and sport packaged equipped models). Plus, putting on tire dressing or dressing the lower trim on SUV's is far quicker and easier. Finally, I can use the rotary at a comfortable position by simply lowering or raising the lift.

If there is a downside to the lift, it's hard to do the roof of sedans and I un-rack the SUV's to do that.

I consider that a 95% benefit.

I have been eyeballing them thru mac and snap on, I dont like the Matco guy so I would not purchase thru him. We have 5 lifts in the shop, but they really dont help out that much because of the racks and how cumbersome they can be, are they still in the 2 k range

Clay: here's one that less money but I don't know a thing about the quality, etc. It would be good to know more details and get some references for this, and it sounds like an affordable product for in-shop detailing.
