Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2005 Jeep Cherokee 5.7 Limited - White

Jimmie, Thanks for the kind words. Optimum Tire Sine leaves a matte finish. Yes, I'd like a little more gloss out of it as well. I think I'll try the Optimum Opti-Bond gel in the near future (not available to the general public). It is applied via air forced spray gun and from what I've learned provides either a glossy or matte finish (wipe down yields matte) and last longer. Some tires, Tire Shine performs really well. Other tires it could use a little more "oomphf". The nice thing about Tire Shine though is that it's water-based so it doesn't get your hands all greasy. I spray the tire with product and come back 10-15 minutes later to wipe down excess and I'm all done. I really like its ease of use.

Tonya, thanks for the compliment! Actually, they had a really nice house...probably about a $300K custom home. I stood in their entry way which looked into their living room and it looked like it was kept pretty clean. Somehow that cleanliness didn't make it to their vehicle...hehe!

Thanks for the feedback mshu7. Really appreciate it. I think that I'll hold off on the OTS. I'm really looking for something like you said "ease of use" but with a some gloss.

Very nice Shu!

Ahhhhhhh..........the power of Woolite. Not to mention the savings.

Very nice recovery on the interior. I see stuff like this all the time. I appreciate the work you did. Interior work is what detailing is. A monkey can learn how to make paint shine!

_M_ - Thanks! I use a ratio of 6 parts water to 1 part Woolite.
thanks for sharing. im learning a lot from all of you since stumbling on this site. im just a weekend amateur but i like to keep my vehicles in tip top shape and all these little tricks will help me take it to another level.

also, i just went back thru the pics again and that interor was a train wreck - great job again! it just amazes me how much spilled liquid and who knows what in the back seat from the kid...that one spot looked like puke maybe. the simple fact that they wouldnt even take a wet rag to wipe some of that up is just plain gross. plus im sure they had to spill that stuff on themselves.

maybe they had the house detailed too - haha!

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2005 Jeep Cherokee 5.7 Limited - White

Amazing turn around. When I was going through the before pics, I figured you wouldn't be able to get of all the stains.

Are you detailing in a heated garage? I can't even hand wash my car outside in the cold, let alone detail. My MS3 is not feeling the love.

Hope the business is goin well, with details like this, I doubt you have much trouble gettin clients!

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2005 Jeep Cherokee 5.7 Limited - White

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, right now I'm working out of a garage. In November, I found this place to work out of for cheap and it's a mile away from my house. And best of all it's right at the main intersection of the town I live in. It's not heated, but I bought a 35,000 BTU propane forced air heater ($100, $50 for the propane and tank) to do the job. Basically, I run that heater for 15-20 minutes and then use a small ceramic heater ($30) to keep it warm in the garage. It is only a single bay (out of a 4- car garage) so it doesn't take much to heat it up. I also wear really warm clothes as well (t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, thick work pants).

Since my business is mobile through the warmer months, I'm offering pick-up/delivery service w/in 10 miles of the shop to offset not being mobile for these few winter months. The last month has been kind of slow, but I did sell some gift cards for the holidays. Hopefully, now that the holidays are about over, business will pick back up. With Indiana weather, everybody's vehicles are in need of some detailing help right now.

Thanks again for all the compliments everyone!

Man thats a good job there. Sounds like you have a very nice winter time setup as well.

Whats the little "package" that you are leaving on the seat? Thats a nice little touch.
