2004 G35 coupe in black

I initially posted this in another forum. Thought I'd share it here too, as I was pretty happy with the results.

===============================

I saw a posting in a regional section of a forum asking for someone to detail their G35. Being closeby, I responded, saying I'm not a pro but I'd be willing to do it for free, just because I do enjoy the occasional challenge of a thorough detail. So Sunday he dropped it off and I went to work.

Overall, the paint ended up being in pretty good condition. He hand washed using two buckets, so there wasn't too much micro-marring. There were a few spots here and there that proved a bit too stubborn considering the time/equipment I had, but overall the car polished up nicely.

He was happy when he picked it up. And although I did this for free, I was very appreciative of the generous tip.

Process:

Interior:
Vacuum
Wash floor mats
Spot clean interior carpet
303 plastic/vinyl
Pinnacle leather cleaner followed by conditioner
IG on glass

Exterior:
4* gel wheel cleaner (love this stuff!)
Wash
Clay
SSR 2.5 via PC w/yellow SFX pad
SSR 1 via PC w/white SFX pad
EX-P
Pinnacle Souveran

The interior was already in pretty good shape, so I didn't photo any afters of it. Also, this was the first time using Souveran. I now know why it's highly praised. Very nice stuff.

WOW! That looks great. Does he not have time to wash anymore or what? How much did he tip you if I may ask?? I love g35's and that might be enough to get me to buy some Souveran. 2 jars to get over the 75 dollar mark of free shipping!

BTW How long did it take you and where in socal do you live?

That is an awesome job! One of the best paint turn arounds I've seen.
Hope they did tip you and send you more business....if you want it!

How long did you have to work 2.5 to get the damage out?

Thanks for the positive replies!

Just to answer some of the questions...

He tipped me $100. I thought that was very generous considering I wasn't expecting anything for it. When he saw it though, he felt he just had to give me something. I appreciated it. And he did say he would recommend his friends to me if I'd be intrested.

It took me about 8 - 9 hours.

I'm in San Gabriel.

As for the SSR 2.5 I probably spent an average of 3-4 minutes working it in to maybe a 2'x2' area at a time. For the hood, I did an additional pass of 2.5 as it needed a bit more attention. Followed by the SSR 1. BTW, the entire car was covered in hard water deposits. The 2.5 did an excellent job of removing them.

Again, I was really impressed with the Souveran. Any doubts about the price tag were gone after seeing what it can do.

Great job on the car! 8 hours is a lot of effort but dang the car sure does look good.

I'm really surprised he did it in 8 hours and still did the inside. With those water spots, you could have been there forever.

I actually thought it would take longer as well. But I only took two or three 5-minute breaks in that time, so that helped speed things up.

Yep. It does.
Somedays I forget to eat lunch or keep myself hydrated.
Gotta stop that....
