Black Viper Swirled to Toto Treated

The Ferrari service shop got this badly swirled Viper for me to do. The car has been re-painted completely, so it wasn't an OEM finish. I decided to put the SYSTEM ONE product to the "black car" test.

Here's how it went: start with a wool pad and X3 product and use it like compound to remove swirls, scratches, etc. Then switch to a foam finish pad with X3 to polish.

Some representative swirl shots and in-process shots

The roof was a good example of before and after wool only. You can almost finish the paint with wool, but they recommend a polish with foam.

Trunk shot after wool and foam application

This shot shows the hood after process and a wax with their spray wax-as-u-dry product. Pretty good when time is a factor.

Finished car...waiting for owner pickup.

I'd sure recommend AutoGeek contact these folks and see about carrying their product. It saves some time and steps and does a good job.

Toto

Re: Black Viper Swirled to Toto Treated

I've heard a lot about System One.........it was Meg's So1o's biggest competitor. Looks like a really good, one-step system. It made that black look really good. But then again, a chemical/tool is only as good as it's user Toto! Fine work.

What's your opinion on System 1?

Re: Black Viper Swirled to Toto Treated

Is system one only rotary friendly? I've read the kit comes with a dual-sided wool/foam pad (edge)... Give us a polish to compare to and a compound to compare to.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's for a rotary because of the use of a wool pad. It does come with the dual-sided foam/wool (Edge pad I think) and the adapter.

I'd say it works like optimum compound (but doesn't leave a haze...you use it and can see your progress) on the wool side and Menzerna 106 on the polish side. I really like seeing my progress as I work. One of the problems Meguiar's So1o has (besides only working on new paint in a body shop), is you are trying to guage your work through a haze. The System One usage really shows where you are...and if you missed an area (like I did on the Viper fender), flip back to the wool and correct where you missed. With 3M, it was tough because you had to use the compound and started the dusting all over again.

Re: Black Viper Swirled to Toto Treated

Toto you da man! Thanks for the insight. How is the dusting from this, and with it being water-based can you tell a difference?
