  1. Re: interior invisible mold contamination - out of solutions

It's a 35 year old classic car currently valued around 200k and going up in value. Dumping it? Not really an option. Selling it? Maybe when it'll be worth a million :)
  2. Re: interior invisible mold contamination - out of solutions

One more thing. When using the ozone machine we only did it in 15 minutes sessions. I get it that's not enough to kill all spores? Should we keep a session for like an hour? What's the risk?
  3. Re: interior invisible mold contamination - out of solutions

So you think the main problem resides in the hvac system? The units have been dismantled and cleaned, the cooling liquid was changed.

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

Strange and funky is one but to have the clothes and hair smell like mold i think it is dangerously unhealthy.

Current status: took down everything, including the dashboard, cleaned, sprayed the...

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

Yes that is my thought too. It's annoying to have to throw away a leather that looks like new.

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

Sorry to say this solution didn't work. We'll keep on spraying hydrogen peroxide until Em Clean arrives. Besides a yellowish foam (might be the coloring of the leather it is butter beige) nothing...

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

Thank you, we've ordered and will give it a try. I would be nice to save the leather as it is in very good condition. No mildew stains either.

We've ozoned the interior several times. that was in february. we did that until we realized we need to find the pieces that were destroyed by mildew and eliminate them. like the isolation material...

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

We've steamed the seats, then treated them with Vital Oxide and Leatherique. As i was saying there is no visible mold on them, but the spores are somewhere caught deep in the texture of the leather....

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

So new "intelligence" has arrived: seems that the leather covers are attacked by spores, that have penetrated deep inside the leather fibers. i think using Leatherique actually fed the spores with...

Re: Getting mold smell out of leather seats

Spoken to a classic car restorer yesterday. He told me that before throwing away the foams, to wrap them in plastic foil and then re-mount the cleaned leather on top. This way the smell is "locked...

We've already done that - took out the leather cover, cleaned the interior of the leather and the foam. but seems we need to do it again and use the stronger disinfectant. or if that foam is attacked...

Getting mold smell out of leather seats

    Hello

So we're working on a 1997 Jaguar XK8 (seats are covered with Connoly leather, best of its kind, they don't produce that kind of leather anymore, so we really need to save it)
