    Motorhome needs some work

    I have a 2012 motorhome which has full paint with 4 coats of clear coat.
    I have personally maintained it by washing with mild soap and water and have hand waxed it yearly with Meguier's Flagship Marine wax.
    It has worked well over the years being baked in the Arizona sun but now I think I need to do a bit more.
    The clear coat is getting dull at the top of the exterior which I know I haven't gotten to for a while.

    What I'm looking for is a product that will clear up the clear coat, wax and sealant in a All In One Product.
    I also have swirl marks I want to remove.

    I saw Mckees All-In-One Cleaner Wax and Sealant and wanted to know what you thought of this product?
    See picture below of Gallon jug.


    I do have a variable speed Dual Action buffer but have not used it yet as I'm still learning which pad I need to use.
    I also have a good assortment of pads but not sure which I really need for my job.

    So this is where you can help me with you knowledge and help.

    That is a good product but will not remove swirls.

    Nice motor home.That product is nice on rv paint along with orange foam pads.You should be able to diminish or level out swirls with that.Hd speed could be a option otherwise.If that was mine I would go for menzern 3 in one and top it with powerlock to ensure a proper job and protection.may take take longer but your final results would look stunning.

    Use mc Kees 37 coating for the whole entire front and mirrors.

    Does the Menzerna Power Lock Paint Sealant seals the wax after it is applied?

    I was told to get rid of swirl marks to use a green pad first.

    I guess you must first try the least abrasive pad first in a test area to see if it will work.
    If not try again with more pressure or move up to a white?

    GSKR I would think an Orange pad may be too aggressive of a pad to start with don't you think?

    Hi Iggy,

    Let me see if I help out...



    First the product you're talking about uses GREAT abrasive technology and that is the number #1 most important factor when buffing out anything with a clearcoat and especially a HUGE clearcoated motorhome.

    McKee’s RV All-In-One Cleaner Wax & Sealant - 1 gallon



    It WILL remove swirls as long as they are not deep. I'd say it's a medium cutting cleaner/wax which should work perfect for your needs.


    Now this is important... the KEY to using a one-step cleaner/wax is NOT using too aggressive of a pad because too aggressive of a pad CAN leave buffer trails. Not holograms which are a specific scratch pattern inflicted into paint using a rotary buffer but buffer trails. Buffer trails are a micro-marring pattern that mimics the pattern you moved the buffer over the surface. It can be cause by,

    A: Poor abrasive technology
    B: Too aggressive of a pad
    C: Both A and B

    I would highly recommend you read this article I wrote a few years ago.... it talks about pad choice when using cleaner/waxes. I've taught a class on this topic for the last 3-4 years at Mobile Tech Expo and of course I cover this in my three day Competition Ready Detailing Classes.

    I would also highly recommend at least trying to use a foam polishing pad. Not a foam cutting pad or a foam finishing pad but right in-between these two categories of foam pads and that is a foam polishing pad.

    And also read post #3 it's about the terms

    Heavy or Wet



    Using a one-step cleaner/wax or as some call it an AIO (same exact thing just some people like different words), is NOTHING like applying a show car wax or a finishing wax.

    With a finishing wax, show car wax or another way to say it would be a NON CLEANING wax, (the opposite of a cleaner/wax or AIO), you apply a THIN coat or use the product sparingly BECAUSE correctly used the paint is in new or like new condition. Thus all you're trying to do is apply a thin coat.

    With a cleaner/wax you want lots of cleaners, lubricants, abrasives working for you so you use the product heavy or wet.

    Thanks Mike for your time to explain many facets of doing it right the first time.
    I have a Port Cable 7424XL on the way as well as an assortment of pads as part of my kit.

    I will do what you say and find a test area and use the least aggressive pad.

    I have these CCS pads
    3 - blue
    1 - green
    4 - white
    4 - orange
    1 - Yellow

    I also have pad prep spray as well as pad cleaner.

    I will look closer in the DA buffer speed as I was going to run it initially at 5 or 6 as one of the video said.
    Then for final buffing drop down to 3 or 4 with a less aggressive pad like Green or blue. Don't have any red yet but may buy a few to test.

    Anyway thank and will keep reading and learning and hope no mistakes. lol
