Just bought a New Hitachi SP18VA buffer

I didnt really need it just felt like trying something new,in my arsenal is a Dewalt high speed ,a Flex lightweight highspeed,a flex orbital and a Mothers little light weight orbital..
IL tell you for the price the Hitachi is hard to beat. I wouldn't trade it for the flex light weight but its going to replace the Dewalt,I believe its about 2 pounds lighter then the Dewalt its got more power and is a whole lot quieter. One thing Ill give the Dewalt it has the smoothest start up of all of them and has good resale value,I figure I can off it on Craiglist for $90 and only be out $70 for the new green machine....jim

I had a chance to run that model Hitachi last year at a detailing event that I was at and I really liked the feel of it and I was told it has a 5 year warranty too. Nice purchase.

I grabbed one several years back when Autogeek sold them. It was the 5/5/5 that sold them. 5 Year Warranty, 500 watts , and about 5 pounds. At least thats what I remember it to be.

Re: Just bought a New Hitachi SP18VA buffer

Actually I think its a 5 year warranty,6.2 pounds and 11 amps ...not bad compared to the Dewalt if I remember right is only 90 days(like most) 8 amps and 8.5 pounds.
How the Hitachi first got my attention was a couple of month's ago i was in the market for a sawsall turned out Lowes had the Hitachi CR13VBY on closeout,I got it for $100 and it put my old Milwaukee to shame. They make powerful tools reasonably priced...I give them a thumbs up

Re: Just bought a New Hitachi SP18VA buffer

When I used to work for a pool company, I used many different kinds of grinders, and the smoothest grinder was a Hitachi, they are well built and run smooth. It's no surprise to me that their buffers are the same way...

A great buffer for the money. It probably should be on the under rated thread.

Re: Just bought a New Hitachi SP18VA buffer

Iv had mine now for about a year and a half, its my "go to" buffer/grinder,,I use it for autobody also. I sold off the Dewalt,it served me well for several years but I have to say I don't miss the whining noise a bit,the Hitachi is almost silent. Now verse,s the Flex it is the perfect weight,I feel the flex is a little on the light side for cutting and rubbing out complete paint jobs where in the flat surface,s you almost need to press down a bit. If I had to own only one machine my choice would be the Hitachi...jim

Re: Just bought a New Hitachi SP18VA buffer

I ran one of the Hitachis at one of the Poorboy's World Detailing Weekends. It was a light, powerful, quiet, well balanced Machine. I'm really surprised they don't get more attention than what they do. I think the new Flex PE 14 is a toy and I'd trade it for a new DeWalt any day.
