    First Time Machine User

    Hope everyone's doing well.

Like the title says, I'm new to machine polishing, and I tried using the Griots 6" DA with the Meguiars microfiber system and I was just wondering if I was supposed to lift the pad off the paint before turning it off or wait for the machine to stop orbiting? I tried the latter first but the pad would seem to "jump around" before stopping, or maybe "grabby" is the term? So I instead would switch it off and lift the pad off the paint before it would stop spinning. Am I doing it correctly?

Sorry for the newbie question. Just need some clarification.

    Thank you!

I just watched the GG video again and it says to turn off and then lift while it's slowing down.

I guess I can delete this thread?

Hello armorrig, If you don't know ask, I have spent a lot of hours on this forum and website and on YouTube and other sites just to improve my skill, even though I know sometimes what the answer to my question is I really like getting opinions from the Pro's or others who just had experience, I say don't ever be afraid to ask this is what forums are for and made of, asking questions getting answers, posting your work and showing others how you do things, I think a lot of us can relate to one or all of the threads on here, so by all means ask, when you know more about what you are doing I'm sure you will as well share your information to others

It really doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but you're a lot less likely to sling polish or the whole pad if you turn the machine off while it's still in contact with the paint. Whether you want to lift it before it completely stops or wait is really up to you.

    Thanks fellas!!

I've been reading up a lot of posts here and have learned quite a bit but only in theory so far. I'm just starting to apply them as I have time to spare now.
