Newbie ? Meguires DA Polisher 1 Gen

I currently have a Meguires DA Polisher G110 (1s Gen) with the Meg. 5 in Baking plate and use it with LC Pad (6.5 inch) For those harder to reach smaller areas, it would be great if I can use a smaller pad. Maybe 4 inch I dont want to invest in another machine... What options are there? Can I use a smaller backing plate / pad. Do I need an adapter?

Any advise appreciated

No you dont need a new machine. I have a GG6 and run a 3.5 LC backing plate with 4" Meguiar's polishing pads. Great for small areas & tight spaces. I got everything here at AutoGeek.

You will love a 3.5" bp with 4" pads!!!! No separate adapter needed.

How have those pads held up for you? I was looking for some 4" pads....never used megs pads before.

I can tell you right away they wont hold up as good as the bigger pads, smaller pads take more wear & tear naturally. So far I've used them on several panels, headlights and they still look brand new.

Like any pad, take care of them and use a dedicated pad cleaner/restorer and they are sure to hold up. Not to mention they are Meguiar's quality.

That combo looks really nice, I didn't realize those 4" pads were tapered like that. All my Meg's pads are before the 2.0 came out, and they didn't make the 4" back then. Except yikes they're not $9.99 anymore, regular price $14.99, on sale right now for $12.99.

I use the 4" pads on my GG almost to the exclusion of everything else. They fit just about everywhere and eliminate a lot of hand work. The pad fits inside the can of most paste waxes,which makes winter preps easy using my favorite Collinite 476. IMO, the only minus of the small pads is that you have to pay more attention to keeping the pad flat on the surface, since you don't have the stability of the larger diameter pads. When serious correction is necessary, I just reach for my rotary.
