Obvioulsy this is Scott's term, but to me jewelling is using a finishing pad with a finishing polish (XMT #1, Poorboy's SSR1, Menzerna FPII, Optimum Polish, etc.) to refine the finish on the paint. Glazing if you still desire to do it would come after jewelling.

in the XMT case .... yes ... because the glaze has some light abrasives like a finishing polish (so does RMG) . You would use a machine, finishing pad, and speed versus hand application in that case.

And yes in general, I find no need for a true glaze (meg 7) ... as a properly prepped finish and a good carnuaba or sealant offers plenty of gloss and/or wetness.

Interesting . . . I didn't know the XMT glaze had abrasives in it.

Ditto. "A glaze is unlike a finishing polish in the fact that glazes do not contain abrasives. They may contain cleaners, like this one, but primarily they serve as a moisturizer for the paint." Talking about XMT Glaze.

Scott which finishing polishes do you recommend for the final "jeweling" step? I've heard good things about the Menzerna line? Is this any better then XMT?

XMT 1 and Poorboys 1.0 work fine ... but Menzerna's 085 Ceramiclear polish (no longer avail US) was my absolute favorite.

Personally, I really like the XMT 1 for "jewelling." I was using Menzerna FPII, but I find XMT 1 has a little finer of a polish and is therefore more effective at jewelling the finish.

Is Menzerna's PO85RD the same as PO106FF? or are they different products?

If you started with an orange pad and #3 XMT polish, you would then more than likely use #1 XMT to "finish" the polishing process. Would the #1 XMT polishing in this case be the jewling? Then of course follow with a LSP.
