Here's where this means something to you the OP and anyone reading this into the future.

Most people are using a DA Polisher to remove swirls out of clear coat paints because it's faster and easier and more effective than working by hand and it's safer and easier than using a rotary buffer. Compared to other options, it's also a good value for your money.

• Removing swirls means removing paint
• Paint is best removed when pad is rotating over the surface
• The Griot's Garage ROP does a better job of keeping a pad rotating under pressure than the Meguiar's and the Porter Cable.

That's the best and honest answer based upon my experience using electric polishers of all types.

That said, I think the Porter Cable PC7424XP is the most reliable DA Polisher out of the three with over 20 years of being on the market and probably over 30 years on the market. Does anyone know when the first PC's like this were introduced to the wood sanding industry?

The Griot's and the new re-designed Meguiar's units are new to the market. That's a fact, not a negative comment. After they've been on the market for say 3-5 years and have a long history of reliable use like the kind of rigorous use most "Pro Detailers" will put them under, then everyone can draw their own conclusions as to which one is best.

My goal is not to speak negatively about any of these three tools just share accurate information to help people choose the tool that will make and keep them happy.

Pro Detailers detail cars 5, 6, and 7 days a week, they need a tool that can withstand that kind of work load.

Enthusiast Detailers detail their personal cars a few times a year, so if you're an enthusiast detailer you might not be as influenced by a time-proven history of reliability.

Makes perfect sense and exactly the type of opinion/input I am/was looking for...

This machine will not be used on every detail I do and is going to be one of 4 machines in my tool chest. With that said, I will not be using it as much as one would expect from someone that does this for $$.

I already have a 9227 & flex DA and will be buying a lightweight rotary and a traditional DA (megs or groits) for a fully assembled arsenal... I just hate not having the appropriate tool for the job and with these 4 machines I think I will be fully set

Sorry I can't do a comparison but I can say that I really like the new Meg's DA polisher.

The reasons that I like it are that it has good power, it looks and feels like a real quality machine though it is a bit heavy, I like the rubber like housing material as it is grippy to my hand.

The Meg's G-110 V2 is pretty much balanced and has very little vibration. I ran this machine for about 3 hours straight and had no problems with numbness in my hands which I get after about 20 minutes using an old style PC. There was also not much heat buildup in the machine so it was pretty comfortable to use. I give the Meg's machine two thumbs up.

I bought the meguiars because I like that it ramps up the speed when you start. Meaning it doesn't sling product around when it is first turned on. Keep in my though I am a hobbyist not a pro detailer. I will only use the machine 6 to 8 times a year.
