best wAX OR SEALANT
hey guys so i got anothing question. in the past i have always stuck with meguiars gold class paste wax. i am looking to trying some liquid wax or sealant for that matter. (NOT the thin liquid that comes out of a spray bottle i want the stuff that is thicker so you can put on a pad and a DA polisher). as i said i have only used gold class paste so i dont know where to start. i am also hearing alot about SEALANTS. so i dont know if i should try that insted of wax. i am looking to get as glossy finish as possible (very wet look and reflective like a mirror) and i also have to be able to use with a DA machine. hope to hear every ones opinions

Re: best wAX OR SEALANT
I cant recommend a specific one since i havent used many...some examples are
1. Menz Powerlock
2. Opti-Seal
3. DP Poli-Sealant
4. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
5. Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Sealant
6. Griots Garage Paint Sealant
The list can go on and on. I personally just purchased Opti-Seal (which is a spray sealant) and i plan on topping it with 845. Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is one of the most popular waxes in the detailing world. It goes on very thin and lasts months.

Re: best wAX OR SEALANT
You could try Meguiar's Ultimate Wax, which despite its name, is a sealant.
How have you been polishing the paint prior to waxing? Because if you want the glossiest finish possible, you have to have perfectly polished paint.

Dont forget the decon stage! (clay, Iron remover)

Re: best wAX OR SEALANT
like KyleWrap said, decon stage is important for glossy paint.
polishing is the key for show car finish.
wet look can be achieve from oily wax which in most case, attract dust.
"Best" to me will be products that i feel comfortable using and can always achieve good result

Re: best wAX OR SEALANT
pretty much any liquid 'wax' you purchase is going to be primarily based on sealant technology, that is, synthetic protectants rather than the natural carnauba wax you find in paste wax.
If you want something over the counter, megs ultimate is a good choice.
A sealant is going to create more of the glassy look you are after, but the finish is more a function of paint correction/polishing than it is the wax or sealant you use. The glassiest tend to be based on, or contain, acrylics. Klasse, Sonus and werkstatt come to mind as acrylic options. I haven't found anything definitive, but blackfire is also said to have acrylics.
'Best' wax/sealant is far too subjective. Now that you've taken care of the can of worms, please wash the can opener and put it back in the drawer.

Duragloss topped with Collinite and you've got 20 years of protection, and it will cure acne.
All kidding aside...I started with Klasse, and after having to ban my DD from the road for three days straight and fighting with buffing issues, I switched to duragloss and got more protection than Kasse. Collinite gave me 5 months of protection and so on my truck I decided to combine them...
The look is terrific, but I'm excited to see what kind of protection I'm going to get.
Here comes my coating plug!!!! - I would look in to coatings, I've coated two out of three of my vehicles and I love the coating...makes cleaning so much better! Prior to this winter I'll be coating my truck too.

Yet another best thread. There is no best. What's your budget, location, experience level, expectation, maintenance record, type of vehicle, and bottom line need.
In my day we didn't have the Internet, iPods,iPads, or smart phones....but we had some really bad-azz cars.

These do seem to keep springing up. It's that time of year.
The most reflective sealant I've used is Klasse Sealant Glaze. It's not DA friendly in my experience, but it will give you the look your after.
