Nano Skin Vs Speedy Prep Towel

So it seems like these are the new hot items that are going to make claying a lot easier and faster. I'm all about cutting my detailing time down since time is money and these on the surface seem to be doing just that.

They look like the Ultima elctro sponge. From what I've read, it seems like some people love them, but they leave a lot of marring. I've heard that they are going to release a "mild" version of both which should reduce marring.

My question. Does anyone have either? Which would be the right one to buy? How bad is the marring? How are you using them? Is it worth the $60? Seems like a pricey product but if I can get 100 cars or even 60 out of one towel then it would be worth it. Obviously I personally won't clay unless I'm going to polish so that isn't a huge issue, but I also don't want to create more work for myself.

I bought two Nano Skin 6" pads and have used them on about 10 cars so far. We use it with the Flex 3401 and it definitely cuts down on the work time. We've cut 30-40 minutes off our clay times. It especially comes in handy on large SUVs. Those are PROs.
The CONs are that it does mar soft paints. The first car we did was a black BMW M5 and it marred it up pretty bad. Then I figured out the proper technique
1. Use ONR QD strength
2. Spray the Nano Skin pad liberally with ONR QD
3. Spray panel liberally with ONR QD keep it wet
4. Keep the speed on the polisher on low speed 2.5 - 3.0 is fine
5. Don't apply any additional pressure to the polisher, use a criscross method.

Follow those steps and it works like a champ.

The company suggest speed 1 to 2. I would feel like I was wetsanding the paint any faster than that.

Hidef, why did you go with the da kit? It seems like the better of the two for sure. BMW paint mars if you look at it funny.

I have used the nano skin auto scrub on several cars using a DA polisher on speed 1. Takes only ONE quick pass then clean with clay lube or detail spray of choice before going on to next panel. You don't make multiple passes like you would by hand. One pass and your done using no pressure whatsoever. You can do an average size car easily in 15 minutes. It's best to break it in on the glass surfaces first. Make sure to use a ton of clay lube. Be very generous in that department.

I use the towel with ONR. And I would never go back to using a clay bar. If there was one step that I could not stand doing, it was claying a entire car down. With the towel, it has cut it down at least 70% of the time compared to clay.

I have the speedy prep towel and I love it!

It took me about 1 car to really break it in. I followed the instructions and used it on the windows first. Then when I thought it had been broken in started using it on a white nissan altima. After doing the hood, I caught the sun and realized I was marring the paint. I was doing a 1 step on it anyway, so I wasn't too concerned.

After that vehicle I've not had an issue with it marring. Not even soft paint. I've used it on BMWs, Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Saturn, Lexus, Mini, etc and have not caused any damage since. Even when I get some what aggressive with it.

I still will clay heavily soiled areas, but for light claying the speedy prep towel has saved me a ton of time.

I'm getting the towel sooner or later too. I bought the 6" and 3" kits for my griots polishers. The place where I ordered doesn't have the towels yet but they are trying to get them in. Mine should be here today or tomorrow
