Re: Meguiars M40
Megs' #40 is great. Been using it for 23 years. It has a nice rich sheen but not a shine, and lasts maybe 3 weeks. I use it on all rubber and vinyl, including plastic trim that has been bleached by the sun, to restore richness. Plus, it's fairly inexpensive.
The best leather products contain oils, proteins, and collagen that soaks deep into leather to maintain suppleness throughout the entire thickness, such as leatherique, whereas products intended for vinyl usually just penetrate the surface slightly, and contain silicones, so that vinyl products mainly just seal the surface, rather than soak in deeply. Basically, good leather products require natural ingredients that actually nourish the leather, because they replenish things that the animal skin naturally contains and dry out over time, which leather needs in order to remain supple, plus leather products are ph balanced for leather.
I've used Leatherique to restore 140 year old leather to like new suppleness, and I can tell you that Meg's #40, regardless of how great a product it is for rubber, vinyl and plastic, could never have come remotely close to doing that.

Re: Meguiars M40
detailed a Avalon today and degreased the tires well and for kicks applied M40 to the tires and WOW! very nice sheen to them! Not the same as HD 2:1 as that is considered more wet but this was more of a clean sophisticted luxury shine and not a glossy glass look!
Gonna degrease my tahoe's tires and see how lonf it lasts
