First Look: Mothers Waterless Wash & Wax
First off, my apologies for the late review--been crazy busy for the past month.
I was one of a lucky few picked by Nick to review the new Mothers Waterless Wah & Wax product. I used this product on a section of my wife's very dirty Honda Pilot (hadn't been washed in a month) which was coated with Colli #915 some months back. I chose the front fender area under the headlights, where it normally gets the dirtiest--outside of the tailgate. My previous experience with waterless washes = Poorboys Spray & Wipe and Meguiars D114 at waterless dilution (1:128).
Product Claims according to the Product Page: Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax 24 oz.
Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax removes dirt and road film while depositing a glossy layer of wax protection in one step! Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax is the quick and easy way to wash your car without dragging out the hose and bucket. Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax is perfect if you live in an apartment complex or an area where water restrictions are in place. Best of all, washing your car this way takes 5 minutes or less!
It’s no secret that Mothers is one of the last companies to introduce a waterless wash, but that’s okay because good things take time! Instead of rushing a half-baked product to the market, the team at Mothers spent a great amount of time testing and tweaking their formula until it was absolutely perfect. Simply put, you’re going to love Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax!
Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax removes dirt, road film, dust, bird droppings and fresh water spots with a spray and a wipe – it’s that simple! Not only does Mothers clean your paint without water, it deposits a glossy layer of wax protection at the same time After treating your vehicle with Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax the paint will be left clean, shiny, and slick.
Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax is so easy to use that anyone can reap the benefits of this amazing product. Simply spray a liberal amount of waterless wash directly onto your paint and wipe clean with a soft, plush microfiber towel. Use a second clean, dry towel to lightly buff the area to a brilliant gloss. That’s it! Use Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax on paint, glass, chrome, plastic trim and any other hard exterior surface.
Product Details/Tools Used
-Packaging/Size: 24 oz. clear plastic bottle with trigger sprayer
-Consistency: About the same as water
-Color: Skim Milkish
-Smell: **
-Price at time of review: On sale for $ 9.99 (regular $11.99)
-Manufacturer: Mothers Polishes - Waxes - Cleaners
Blue MFT Elite Ultrafine 500gsm towel
Generic-brand MF bug sponge
There are a total of 4 things that stood out to me. The first thing about the product I like is that the spray "coats" the surface of the paint evenly; no beading or uneven splatter even if the car has an active LSP application. Two sprays effectively coated the area I was cleaning. The 2nd big stand-out is the ease of use, this stuff is incredibly easy to apply; I'm talking Poorboys Spray & Wipe + Megs UQW/D156 easy. The 3rd standout is the smell. This is easily one of the best-smelling products I've used. The final stand-out was that the product did not effect beading of existing LSP's. Even though I could tell the product left a little something behind, it didn't hinder beading at all--not even when I used on my Camry (coated with Sonax PNS) when removing a bird bomb. Very impressive.
Before
The car had quite a bit of dirt/small bug guts on the paint, but the product cleared all of it save one small piece of bug corpse that had been on the paint for about a week. I sprayed one additional time and then went lightly back & forth with the big sponge--this removed it entirely. I find the product wiped clean without streaking or fuss. All in all it was a joy to use and I highly recommend this product!
Sprayed on...
One more to remove stubborn bug spot
After
Beading
Pros:
Ease of Application
Product coats the surface of the paint easily/completely
Smells amazing
Does not hinder exisitng LSP beading
Cleans very well
Cons:
Price point is a little steep at the $11.99, but the $9.99 sale price seems reasonable
May use a lot in one application
It's not offered in a gallon-size at this point*

Great review. I used my Mothers last night and your observations are dead on. The smell is a common scent with Mothers (banana?).

Thanks for your time and efforts in compiling
this review...(They don't just magically happen.)
•I agree with your assessments of this product,
including its ease of use and no streaking, for example.
•As to "the what's left behind", and its effectiveness
for future ease of maintenance:
-I have a few more miles to put on the tire/wheel
assemblies...before I will be able to tell-the-tale.
•Thanks again for your review and its presentation.

I was trying to figure it out (which is why I had the "**").

Great review !!!! My experiences with it were dead on with yours and other forums members. I have used Megs D115 and Ultima but Mothers was such a pleasure to use. I was also impressed with how slick it left the surface.
I wonder how long before this will be available OTC.

Re: First Look: Mothers Waterless Wash & Wax
Hope they make a bulk concentrate version then I'll give it a try but I'm not paying $10 for 24oz of product ($54/gallon) when something like D115 can make at least 5 gallons for $65.
